The Committee of One Hundred

Post Ofce Drawer l3!
OCALA, FLORIDA

July 22. 1960

Honorable Ferris Bryant.
Farris Bryant headquarters
P. O. Box 1773

Ocala. Florida

Dear Governor:

1 was pleased to read your statement reported yesterday in the
Tampa Tribune in behalf of industrial development in Florida. Your
statement at the dedication of the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Cox-pore-
tion phosphate plant that the development of the State's industry will be
a main goal of your new administration is heartening to our efforts in
behalf of industry in our Ocale community.

At the present rate of population growth of Florida. industry
becomes indispensable if we are to provide the governnent which the
people are demanding. Tourism. citrus. and agriculture were suffici-
ent to support the government before the population explosion. but cou-
ditions have changed and now we must find new means to meet these
demands.

We are grateful for your uutospolten statement in behalf oi in-
dustrial development. Although Florida's industrial growth has been
phenomenal. you and I know that the State is still far behind the indus-
trial states of the North. We feel that your support of industrial devel-
opment will be helpful to our own program in Marion County. and we
are grateful to you for this help.

Sincerely.
