Nost of yen know by personal contact or by radio. newspaper,
and television that Farris has decided to continue in this race.
After his announcement Sunday night that he was stopping his cam-
paign for lack of funds, volunteer efforts by enthusiastic sup
porters here in Marion County and many other counties of the state
have brought in sufficient cash to provide for Parria' carrying
his campaign to all the people of Florida by radio and television
upon a minimum basis. The effectiveness of this campaign will de-
pend upon the county organisations in each county raising the neces-
aary funds to advertise his radio and television broadcasts and in
addition to help with contributions to increase the number of state-
wide radio and television appearances.
The results of what has been done in Just a few counties of
the state in the past four days in carrying the issue of financing
Farris' campaign by volunteer contributions from the little people
of Florida clearly demonstrates that all that is needed to organize
the necessary support for Parris' ign is the same type of ef-
fort in every other county in the sta e. we have found here and
elsewhere that the minute the average citizen is asked to help
Farris financially and realizes that unless he does so the gover-
nor of Florida will be bought by the highest bidder, there is no
difficulty in securing contributions.
Farris campaign will be waged in 1956 style without the old
style sound truck tour of the state with the candidate attempting
to speak eight or nine times and spending half an hour in each
whistle stop. We believe that we can secure for more effective
results by arranging with you to have Farris spend a half day or
day in your county meeting with his supporters, helping you to
build your organization and in making a sound truck speech at a
time and location of your choosing, if it will be effective in
your county.
A weekly bulletin will come to you each week from state
headquarters giving Farrie' itinerary and radio and television
schedules. We will count on you to call on state headquarters for
any assistance that we can give you.
We can arrange to have teams of Farris' supporters meet with
your group to help organise your local campaign. We will furnish
you with samples of literature and campaign material which yon can
either have printed locally or through state headquarters as you
raise the funds to cover the cost. We must keep this campaign on
a pay-as-yOu-go basis, both on county and state level all the way
through and to drive the issue of Farris Bryant as the psoples'
candidate home to the voters. This is the first time that the
people of Florida have had the opportunity to elect their own
governor by being given the choice of one candidate who will not
be financed by the big man and the big machine.
