60 Second TV Highways
Florida has gained fame as a wonderful place in which to live. But
Florida's highways may yet become famous, too--much to the state's
detriment and to our shame-~as a likely place in which to die. The
slaughter of human lives on our highways cannot be ignored. As your
governor I will plan and work to reduce highway accidents and deaths.
My highway safety program for Florida will give our state better en-
gineered highways---improved driver education=-uniform and sensible
traffic laws~-~and strict, fair enforcement of those laws. If we
can save just one life that would otherwise have been lost we will
have accomplished one mission---but this highway safety program will
save hundreds of lives next year and in the years ahead. Thank you.
