CLEARWATEB. FLORIDA
March 22, 1956
Mr. Farris Bryant
Ocals, Florida
Dear Sir:
As is our custom prior to primary elections, the Clearwater
Sun will run a series of "Know Your Candidates articles in which
each candidate with opposition within his party will have an oppor-
tunity through the columns of this newspaper to discuss his
qualifications.
We wish to start the series so as to conclude it well before
first primary election day, therefore ask that you have your state-
ment in our hands. as you would like it to appear in the paper, not
later than April 1, 1956.
We ask that you limit your article to 500 words, and
suggest that it deal with your qualifications and platform, rather than
with heavy emphasis on biographical information.
In addition, we ask that you supgly us with a 2x3-inch mat
or glossy print to accom any your article. lease make it be a recent
photo, not one five or 1 years old.
It is our plan, once the series is started, to run it daily
until all 19 races have been covered where there is first primary
opposition. Each day one race will be printed, with statements and
pictures of all candidates for that office who face primary opposition.
We do not intend at this time to carry statements or
pictures of those who have no opposition until November, but will
carry these in a repeat "Know Your Candidates" series then.
Please let us have your statement and picture immediately.
It would be embarrassing to you as a candidate and to us as a news-
paper if we had to run your opponents' statement but not yours due to
the fact you forgot to send one in.
There is no charge for this service, naturally.
Very truly yours,
