uneble to care for theneelves. Bryant's record is replete with A most
enviable list or services rendered his fellow man.

In 195u, Br cot served as Florida State Chairman or the highly success

dedicates its funds to ressercn probing the causes or this Greed dis-
ease with the hope or its eventual tctsl ellninstion from our lives.

When the "Florida Mental asslth Association sought a chairman for its

little rinsnoicl support for the scope or its responsibilit it chose
Farris Brycnt_ond no characteristically responded by accept s that

ended as a highly successful achievement.

The wonderful progress or medical science toward the elimination of
infantile parslzsls nss been made possible largely through the annual
March of Dine: and its 'others ncron on Pol o and tho proceeds
therefrom. Farris Bryant served as the floridc Chairman or that in~_
portunt endeavor in 1958. so cuccecsrul was that program that Bryant
was asked to accept tne sane responsibility in 1959 though he had al-
ready committed himself to provide ststewide leadership for ctill
another nest worthy cause. So& in 1959 we find Farris Bryant es the
Florida Cnairnnn or both the Heron or Dinsssond the all-Florida fund

William Robert Bryant, Farris' grandfather, noved with his wife to
Belleview, Fla. in 1890. Ferris' father was raised on the term, but
became one or the state's first members or the State Board of Account-
cno The really kept cows until Farris woe green and one or his

ear lest responsibilities required both stool and pail, and accounts
for his ability to shake hands with o worn, friendly grasp.

Bryant was educated in Ooale'a public sohools as were his daughters.
He studied at Burr! University in 193i-32 before enrolling in the
University or Flor do in 1932. Be odunted tron Florida in 1935 with
a Business Administration Degree. ryant then received hie low degree

from Harvard's School at Law in 1938. he is a practicing attorney in
Oeala today.

Bryant and his wife are Hethedists and, as in all things, Bryant 11
applies hinselr to his chosen belief. in l9h6, he was elected Presi-
dent at the Young Adult creep in his district and is a terror District
Lay Leader. He serves teddy cs Trustee of the Florida Conference. He
nukes frequent Sunday visits to the pulpit of churches or various de-
nominations throughout the state and he is a devoted churchnen.

Though first elected to the Legislature in l9h2, Bryant resigned to
enter the united States adv: uherein he served for three and one halt
acre. his service record includes tours or duty as a gunnery officer

the North Atlantic, the lrish See, the Gulf of "anion. the Mediter-
ranean and Pacific Oceans and the Caribbean, and he was in charge or
an anti-submarine unit on Guam. host of his period or service was
spent under combat conditions.

Darris Bryant's record as a Plerida legislator is well defined in
other pages and in detail as to introduction or legislation, leader-
ship on the floor for iaaortant hills, his comittee work and precise
toting record. But honors accorded hin.hy both his fellow represent-
atives and the working press. outlined herein, curries to illustrate
his legislative accomplishments for the purposes or this document.

Bryant's service to his church and to his fellow nan ie well establish-
ed as a part of what is quite probably the finest and most impressive
set of credentials ever presented by a candidate tor governor of the
State or Florida. Candidates for public office traditionally paint to
their record duringlzenpgigne, but nonetheless, there is no better day
to eValuate the ab ty intent of either candidates, or applicants

{or important Jobs, and that's exactly what a gubernatorial candidate
Is

This, then, is Farris Bryant's record and it is to he hoped that other
candidates in 1900 will display their "wares" with equal candor for

close inspection by the electorate. An opportunity to examine all the
records or all the candidates side-hp-side will demonstrate that Farris

Bryant is not only the nest "honored," but the nest qualified non for
Floridas governor -- "by for.
