llith reference to our telephone conversation this coming pertaining to the
potential list of co-ercial type floats to be invited to particpate in your
Parade, 1 would like for you to consider ny "second thoughts" before we aahe
a final determination of this letter. You hove listed (We tourist attractions
and three iloats representing the Citrus industry; one oi which, is Hinute Held
Corporation. le. of course. will he leaving out nsny other tourist attractions
and several large private corporations pertaining to the Citrus Industry.
lhe thought occurs to n that it we ash the tourist Attmtion Association of
Florida to provide a (lest, we would be avoiding possible triticial or hurt-
teellngs tro- thoae not included. the seas thought follows in the selection
of liinute liaid Corporstion. that we will be leaving out others or the Citrus
Industry. The (allowing suggestion would avoid any hurtofeelings by any --
llhy not send out invitations on an industry-wide basis to include all transportation
eedia, tourist sttraotions. citrus, hanlzing and aanuiacmrers throughout their
various associations. i believe we would get alnost 100 per cent acceptance
on this basis. These added to the other segnnts such as Gasparilla. fiesta
of Five Flags and etc. would prohahly get all of the units that we need. Silver
Springs could certainly be an exception to this line-ot-thinking because of its
location. i an holdiq up sending out any invitations until you and I talk
lore about this.
I have discussed with Hendell Jarrard and Ji-y lynes the subject of your inviting
the Southern Governors. both said that you should invite all of then. Ky second
thought on this eatter is that this nay he a very swheard occasion for you to be
able to extend personally the kind of hospitality which would he in order for these
can. Due to your very crowded personal schedule. there simply will be no tin
(or you to give then any personal attention.
l e- not trying to ovoid the housing pmhlen connected with these Governors as
there will he so my more housing problem that this one would not take any difo
(trance. l szy feel that this -y not he the right tins and place for you to
first invite thee to florida because of the reason outed above. naturally, these
invitations will not go out until you have definitely nade a decision and even then
would go out over your signature. A decision on this utter should be wade soon;
hocausa if you discard sly thinking and agree with Hendell and Jim, the hausing
prohlen does ache it urgent.
Please is no have your views on this as soon as possible.
