ssrmznnan 5. l950. Governor Herren seid today the recent work of
the Polk county arena Jury which indicted former Sheriff Frank A.
willie-a and three others in an investigation of law enforcement
against gaehling deeonstreted hoe effective a Grand Jury can he
in bringing about IIIIXII proper law enforcement. i warren; also'
reporting on his own investigation into gambling in Volusia County
said his investigators C"hsd been unable to find evidence of holita
numbers racket operations in the county. The governor said recently
he was investigating holits as reported in Volusia by the Tribune's
staff writer, Benett Peters. Peters seid the numbers racket was
flourishing in spite of the repeated warnings to county officers froe
warren. Warren declined to outline the details of the investigation.
