Dear Farris:
i enjoyed very much seeing you and Julia during your recent
visit to the City. From all accounts, the "Thank You" break-
fast was a large success.
Enclosed you will find an editorial from today's Miami News.
Also enclosed please find a brief background on William James
Allen, who came in to see me in reference to securing an ap-
pointment as an administrative assistant or private secretary
on your staff. He came in recommended by Justice B. K.
Roberts. I am forwarding this to you to be included in your
les. so that it may be considered at an appropriate time.
1 spoke with Alan Courtney yesterday in reference to his pro-
gram. I explained to him why you did not desire to go on his
program immediately; that you want to wait until you have com.
pleted your work shop sessions, and he was very understanding.
He said he would appreciate it very much it you would call him
either long distance. as you suggested. or some night when you
happen to be in town. His numbers at the station are: Miami,
Franklin 7-3535, although he suggested that you could probably
get through better on his Fort Lauderdale direct line. which
number is: Fort Lauderdale, Jackson 44272. For your infor-
mation. his unlisted home number is Mohawk 1-1637. (the only
request that he made Was that he would appreciate it if you would
call him prior to your departure for the National Democratic
Conventiono
