Dear Farris:

In the June 25, Fort Pierce section of the Miami
Herald, there appeared an article by Mr. Doug Silver
trying to ridicule no and implicate myself and the
Farris Bryant supporters in this area with a local
dispute over the proposed new location of the County
Court House.

The basis for such a article is completely unfoun-

ded. As you already know some of the facts about the
local click and their operations and while being on
the subject, it might interest you to know that they
would very much like to see me removed from this po-
sition and a man they control, be installed. It also
appears that they will use most any means to accom-
plish this goal. I personally have talked to know one
on this public issue and have been so very busy trying

to get my business back in shape that I haven't even
had the tine to entertain the issue.

Several strong supporters of Farris Bryant have
been quite active of this Court House subject. Through
sy instruction and their own precaution they have
been very careful never to mention the word Farris
Bryant while discussing the above mentioned matter.

or course you are aware I'm sure that in the
runoff Mr. Doug Silver was a Very ardent supporter
of Mr. Carlton as was the key figure in charge of the
Court House issue.

I was disturbed about the article and it's diffic-
ult to explain to someone who is not completely fam-
ilar with these local politics. Italked with my att-
orney who advised me to forget the matter as a denial
of this in the paper would only lead to more accusat-
ion from them. My purpose in bothering you with this
matter is to give you the facts before some of my sup-
posedly friends furnish you with misleading information.

I have been very careful to keep away from pub-
licity as I was instructed by Mr. Brewer and I am deep-
ly sorry that this had to happen.

I see by the paper that you have been traveling
the state and I hope that you will be ab In to to in
this area soon. The Denocractic Committee has just
appointed my wife as a nemter and are planning a four
county get together and hcpe that you right attend.
They have just made a number of improvements in memb~rs
and attitude in their committee so I believe that they
are on their way toward being a upright organization.

As I have mentioned before that I survived an
accident not too long ago in which two brothers of
mine were killed so if there is anything at all I can
do in this area to help you stop highway accidents
please call on me as I would go to know end to save
anothers brother.
