BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
J. Edwin Larson
Florida Treasurer
J. Edwin Larson. Treasurer of Florida since 1940. was
born in Pennsylvania June 27, 1900.
He received his A. 8. degree from Allegheny College and
his law degree from the University of Florida.
Larson is a former high school principal and a member of
the Florida Education Association.
He has soared as mayor of his home town at Keystone
Heights. member at the Clay County Commission. Represent-
ative and Senator in the Florida Legislaturs and Collector of
internal Revenue for Florida.
At Larson's urging. the Florida Citisens Advisory Com-
mittee on llighway Salcty was formed to obtain highway safety
legislation and work for highway accident prevention and low-
er insurance rates.
As a member of the State. Board of Education. Larson is
known for his work to improve education in Florida.
Larson's activities as a member of the State Cabinet
haVe been particularly noted (or programs to insure stable
state financing, improved mental health. education and public

of State R. A. Gray. Larson will become the senior member of
the Florida Cabinet.
Larson is at 33rd Degree Mason and in Grand Master of the
Grand Lodge oi Florida. I". in A. M. He is past grand patron
of the Order of Eastern Star. Grand Chapter of Florida.
He is a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Tallahassee.
Larson is married and has three married daughters. The
