To: County and Area Chairmen
From: The Younger Democrats for Bryant
Subject; News releases
Enclosed are suggested guides for stories that you can provide immediately
to your local daily and weekly newspapers. Also, see suggestion for
helping uith the news editors of your TV and radio stations.
Remember that we are working with the County Hanager. Before you place anything
with a media check with yoerCounty manager for Ferris. He may all ready
have placed this material at the disposal of the media.
Do not send these ample forms to anyone. The details are to he provided
by your peOple, re-typed, and given to the city editors of the newspapers
and the news editors of the radio and TV stations.
For the announcement of The Younger Democrat county chairman. a 5:7
glossy print should accompany the story. If you do not have n 5/7
than an 0x10 will do.
Your local newspapers. radio stations and TV stations are always looking
for local news. However, they all have a space or time problem. Keep
your stories] announcements short.
Here are some ways that you can help the campaign puclicity vise:
1. Any time there is a local meeting of the Younger Democrats, provide
the information to the press, radio and TV. The story(ahort as possible)
should tell what. uhen, uhere. why and by when. It yon wish, just the
facts will suffice.
2. Social events, teas and coffees. are used by the society editors.
If any of these are planned, submit the inlornstion to the papers.
3. Appoint-cot of cannittee chairmen in your tree is news. The en-
closed sample may; be helpful in preparing announcements of such appoint-
ments. A 3906 follou-up to the cauoty story uould he one for each city
chairman in your county.
4. Pictures are always important. when Ferris gets into yoor county
have a photographer ready to have some photos taken of you and Farris.
Remember tho' to first check with your county manager for he may have
all ready made arrangements. A newspaper photographer is best. Give
them to the daily and weekly papers in your area.
