In talking with lax Brewer and Tan Kilgore at State Head-
quarters today, they told me about the incident Tuesday
night at the Beth-David Synagogue, and I Just want to
express to you my appreciation for your fairness and
sportomnnshlp in getting the record straight after an
attenpted distortion by End Diokonson.

I especially appreciated what you had to say about John
HcDermott. It is not the first time that I found the folks
at Miami Herald to be slightly blind, but that's the way
the game goes, I guess.

I don't know what you think about Doyle Carlton's pro-
posal for a $250,000,000 bond issue for roads, but in
these days or extremely high interest rates, this is s fat
cat bonanza if there ever was one. Brailey proposed this
back in 1952 and got swamped. It looks like to me that
this is a hell-or-a-big mortgage on Florida's future and
we're still paying off the indiscriminate bonding of the
'20's. Borrowing $250,000,000 means that one-halt million
will have to be paid back, when interest charges, etc.,
are added, and this is probably conservatire.

I am trying to dig up some data on this for Farris, but
thought I would pass these thoughts along to you also.
