IrI Alres: This is Willard Ayres. I have Just seen this affidavit
that has been turned over to the press by Senator Carlton
ads by you. I wondered if you would answer sons questia
about it.
Irene Baggs: Like what?
Ir. Ayres: Hell, I wondered if you would tell us a little more abou:
what happened, hrs. Baggs.
Irene Baggs: Well, now I really don't know what happened and aseordig
to what the papers say he didn't sit down and I didn't syn
an affidavit to that.
Ir. Ayres: Hell, do you remember him being there, Hrs. Baggs?
Irene Baggs: He was there.
Ir. tyres: But he didn't sit down?
Irene Baggs: he didn't eat.
Ir. Ayres: And he didn't eat there?
Irene Baggs: lb.
Ir. Ayres: Did he make a speech of any kind, lrs. Baggs?
Irene Baggs: Well, he said something, but I don't remember what he said.

Ir. tyres: Who got this affidavit from yon, hrs. Beggs?
Irene Baggs: A man bro t it here today and I read it and I told him
I said now, don't remember nhat he said, but I do know
that he was there.
Ir. Ayres: Has the affidavit written out when they brought it to you

Ir. Ayres: And the man hadn't talked to you before he brought it to you?
Irene Baggs: Io.
Ir. Ayres: Do you know what the man's name was, hrs. Beggs?
Irene Baggs: His name was Isidore Singleton.
Ir. Ayrss: 31: name was Isidore Singleton?
Irene Beggs: Yea.
Ir. tyres: Do ml know him
Irene Baggs: Yes, I know him.
Ir. Ayres: Is he a uhite men or a colored man in Jacksonville?
Irene Beggs: Colored.
Ir. Ayres: Colored man in Jacksonville?
Irene Baggs: Yes.
Ir. Ayres: Is he vorking for one or the governor candidates?
Irene Baggs: You can get in touch with him, and get that information.
Ir. Ayres: Do you remeaher Just what the date of the senth in January
this meeting was held?
Irene Baggs: Hell, I didn't renemher, but another woman remembered.
Ir. Ayres: Well, that does she say it was?
Irene Ragga: She said it was on the leth.
hr. Ayres: On the ltth or January or this year. What kind or a meeting
was it Ire. Baggs?
Irene Baggs: It was nothing but a political organization sent out cards
for us to attend an annual-their annual dinner.
hr. Ayres: A political organization sent out cards for you all to attend

Irene Baggs: That's right.
Ir. Ayree: Hell, sere there other candidates there besides Ir. Bryant?
Irene Baggs: so, nobody case but Hr. Bryant and Ir. Ray Greene.
Ir. Ayres: Ir. Bryant and hr. Ray Greene came in?
Irene Baggs: Yes.
Ir. Ayres: I see. And they didn't sit dean?
Irene Baggs: lo.
Ir. Ayres: And they didn't eat?
Irene Baggs: No, they didn't.
lr. Ayres: They were Just introduced and they made a little talk?
Irene Ragga: And then they left.
Ir. Ayres. And then they left.
Irene Beggs: That's right.
Ir. Ayree: This man that brought you this had never talked to you about
it today?
Irene Baggs: lo.
Ir. Ayres: he Just brought it to you all typed up and asked you to sign it!
Irene Baggs: That's right.
Ir. Ayres: Did Carlton cone to that meeting 1ster--8enator Carlton?
Irene Baggs: I have never seen Senator Carlton in my life.
Ir. Ayres: I see. He never came before this organization?
Irene Baggs: I have never seen him.
Ir. Ayres: You have never seen him at all?
Irene Baggs: Only in his picture.
Ir. Ayres: Ire. Ragga, no certainly appreciate your giving us this
information. Thank you so much.
Irene Baggs: Yes, because I don't want then to get that thing wrong
'cause you know what I mean, I'll have to contradict those
things.
Ir. Ayres: You didn't intend to say then that Ir. Bryant had dinner
with you or sat down with you?
Irene Baggs: I didn't say that.
Ir. Ayres: And you didnt' say that either?
Irene Baggs: No, I didn't. I told him to start with that that nan
didn't sit down and I don't remember what he said.
Ir. Ayres: You told Singleton when he came to see you that Hr.
Bryant didn't sit down and you don't renember what he said?
Irene Baggs: lo, I remember-
lr. Ayres: But he had this affidavit all typed out and he Just asked
you to sign it.
Irene Baggs: I read it and I signed it--I made the correction as I
