Dear Farris:

After receiving your recent letter, I made it a point to try
to contact Joe Crowder at the various public meetings I have
attended, but somehow failed to see him. Therefore. a day

or two ago, I called him on the telephone and recommended you
very highly for the position of Speaker for 1953. and he
agreed to support you, and said he would write you a letter
to that effect. I trust that you have received it.

I am looking forward to the privilege of working with you
during the 1953 Session. I trust that we can work out some
constructive legislation in advance of the Session. I am
very hopeful that the new Governor will have a constructive

pregram and that we can really accomplish something worth while
in the next Session.

Please remember Lois and me to Julie and the children.
