To The Democratic Nominees for the 1953 House:

It will be a great help to me it you will indicate on the en-
closed list the Committee on which you would like to serve this
next session. Since the list is made up before the committee

to revise the rules. which the 1951 House directed me to appoint,
has wet it is only a tentative list, but if any of the suggested
coauitteee are consolidated I will or course transfer your re-
quest to the consolidated committee.

In addition, for those of you who have not written so before,it

will be extremely helpful it you will append remarks giving
reasons {or your requests, such as:

My effort is going to be to hold committee appointments down to
e number that will permit each member to give adequate atten-

tion to all committees on which he serves. Some factors that
I must consider in addition to those listed above are.

l. A proper geographic spread.
2. Blanca between nee and experienced Legislators.

3. Balance between opposing views, so that comitteee
will not be stacked for or against legislation.
