I am in receipt of your letter of acceptance for honorary
membgizhip in Phi Delta Phi and you have indeed honored
our .
is to the time set for your initiation, we have decided on
3:30 p.m., October 18. This choice will allow you to
attend all of the scheduled Homecoming functions it you
so desire in that it is immediately after the homecoming
parade and Just prior to the Blue Key Smoker. Dean Henry
I. lean, and other Phi Delta Phi faculty members have
expressed a desire to serve as the initiating officers for
your ceremony and this hour is also convenient to them.
In regard to an appropiate t0pic for your speech at our
Homecoming Breakfast, I am embarrassed by the fact that I
did not offer you a guide in my previous letter. HoweVer,
I am about to be guilty of the same omnission. We are very
interested in having you exercise a considerable degree of
discretion in your selection of a topic, and for this reason
I hesitate to indicate a preference. I will offer a brOad
suggestion with the understanding that it does not proscribe
any limitations on your choice.
The attendance at the breakfast will be approximately
one half ladies and one half gentleman from all corners
or this state. Therefore, any topic or current general
interest is apprupriate. Your reaction to any political,
governmental, military, or judicial area of concern will
be favorably received. Personally, the martian aspects of
this sec-physical year strikes an appealing note!
