Dear Jim: I

In an exercise or excessive caution, I would appreciate
very much your contacting those candidates for representa-
tive from Hilleborough County or the Democratic Party who
have a chance of winning purely for the purpose or
indoctrinating then on my designation as Speaker. You know
from experience that sometimes the other side can get a
hasty commitment and then sell the boys on the proposal
that whatever they do they must stand by their pledged
word, even it the pledge is to do a dishonorable thing.

After you have done this, it you deem it advisable, I
would appreciate report from you or their reaction.

I am going to be down your way in a little while as I have
got to get on the road to tie this thing up.
