Dear Jim:

I certainly did appreciate the contents and tenor of your
letter of March 3rd, and your thoughtfulness in taking the time
to wr to me.

You have an idea relative to the homestead exemption which at
first blush seems to me to be a wonderful solution to a
difficult problem. I an immediately going to start a personal
study to determine the overall effect on the tax structure of
the elimination of homesteads in connection with a tax
commission creation. I know you have been thinking about that
a good deal, and I would like to Join with you in pursuing that
to see to what extent it is feasible.
