Dear Farris,
Thank you kindly for vour letter of June 23, 1959.

There being only ten months now till next may is

upon us, the governors race is beginning to be a topic of
conversation.

Here in Bradenton it appears as if the Collins backers

of the past are geared to push you, "home", if and when you

formally announce your being a candidate for the Governors
Office.

There are many Northerners here in Manatee County
presently that are registered to vote. These northerners
do not like the outspoken manner of men like Sumpter Lowry,
on their talks about segregation. These people "eel that an
issue like this could he handled more delicately and still
get the point over. Personally, I feel this is also true.

You may count on my support, either as an indivi-
dual. or as a working member of any committee to which I
might be assigned.
