Dear Farris,

I tried to call you by phone this morning, but you were unavailable.

We are well under way in the organisation of our Water Conservation
District in Lake County, and hope to have it coupleter activated
within another week. Thie Board is, of course, vitally interested
in the proper mintezmce of the Oldawaha River passing through
Harion County, since it is directly connected with our water system.
Therefore, I think it irportant that the Interim Comttee which was
continued during the last Session, re-activate itself, and do what
they can to further preper maintenance and central of Mose Bluff
Lock and Oklawaha Channel. You undoubtedly have received a copy of
the Notice from the United States Am Engineers, advising that they
are curtailing their operations in the Oklawaha River. It would ap-
pear to m that this is one more step tom-d their complete abandon-
ment of that syetem, and we should do everything we can to prevent
that. The (20th may be able to do emthing about it.

I have not seen any armmmoenent as to your appointmnte, and would
appreciate your advising on as to who they are. to com as the
Cocmittee can mine its oun effort to prevent any curtailment of the
maintenance of the Oklauaha River, the better. will you please give
me the names of your appointees?

Hope that you have recovered from the strain of the Session, and
have been able to catch up.

Will be glad to see you any time that you are down this way.
