Dear Farris:

A good friend of yours and mine has written me as follows:

"Scuttlebutt around here is that Mr. Albert Golden of Hilton,
has put the word out that Mr. Bryant is going to appoint him
Road Board Member of the Third District and that he has the
endorsement of Mr. Bob Sikes. He also claims to have the
endorsement of the Bryant Eacsmbia County Campaign group
likewise in Okaloosa and that he can't understand why Santa-
Roea won't endorse him. The reason is thet.if appointed,

he will not be a credit to the Bryant Administration. His
kind are like bananas they come in bunches. He did not
contribute to Mr. Bryant through the Santa Rosa Campaign

group.

Hr. Son Turner. of Pensacola. the Board Member after the
resignation of Mr. Bubba Neslon in the latter part of Gov.
Warren's Administration. said he would be appointed Board
Member by Mr. Bryant but he is like warmed over hash from

another Administration.

The Road Board Member is the most important appointment Hr.

Bryant can make. next to the Chaiuman. In the 16 West Florida
counties Mr. Bryant received 96,873 votes as against Mr. Carlton's
22.241 and I might add with the least money spent in any like

are of the State. All the 96,873 voters are definitely all

out in their belief that Mr. Bryant is the beat for good
Government and his appointments should be likewise.

I received Mr. Bryant's picture form Ocala it hangs in a
place of honor in my office here at Eglin.

We were all so sorry to learn of the death of Hr. Jimmie
Brooks of Valparaiso. He was a hard and faithful worker for
Mr. Bryant throughout this area.
