Dear Farris:

I have read in the Times Union that you were inter-
viewing heads of the State Agencies, preparatory to
making your recommendations to the legislature early

next year.

As you are aware one of the major issues, not only
in Florida but pending before the Congress, has to do
with the formulation of programs designed to give re-
lief to elderly people of the State and Nation who
today have great difficulty in meeting their medical
obligations.

Further, as you are aware, great strides have been
made primarily through the Florida Medical Association
in cOOperation with others, in studying and evolving, a
program of health care for the citizens of our State.
The legislature, as you know, has been appropriating
10 million dollars biennium for not only the study but
for the care of our elderly citizens. Knowing of your
interest in this field, I am writing this letter merely
to remind you that your attention to this important

subject is necessary.

When you were a member of the legislature, I know
that you evidenced great interest and concern in this
study. As Governor, you will have a greater opportunity
to render constructive service in this vital field and
I am sure that you will do so in cooperation with the
Florida Medical Association which obviously has a great

interest in this subject.

Accordingly, several representatives of the Florida
Medical Association have indicated to me a desire to
visit with you in the near Future to discuss this matter

in detail. I know that you will be happy to visit with
them.

the National Convention and, as a Floridian, was very
proud of the splendid impreaaion that both of you made
on all of those with whom ou came in contact.
