Brookaville Soil Conservation Nurserg. '

In order to assar the continued development of valuaole conservation
plant materials under the funds available, reduced nurser} operations
are necessary. Out plane call for a reduction in the_total nauoer of
such nurseries to about eight. These have been tentativsl) selected
on the oasis of etisting facilities and.their abilit; to asst serve a
climatic region. It is expected that these nurseries will be placed
under the administration or a state a5enc;_eorkin6 cooperatiel; eith,
and receiving linited financial aid from the Soil Conservation'service.
tutors nursery activities will as concentrated on the abseryetiOnal
plan: testing program.

It is believed the Americas, Georgia, earner) can'paet sirectiyslg
serve the entire Southeast as an oaservntional nursery,center. Stats
and Service technicians will utilise the plant materials procuced at
the Americas nursery to conduct fielc trials in the various geotheastern
States. Since the Brooksville nursery is located on land ancinistered
by the Soil Conservation Service, the present oaeervational_ohnntin3s
can be used for some tine as a-vsluaole source og-intormetion for the
