Dear Farris:
Yesterday 1 had an opportunity to talk to Bill Powers
concerning their plans to ilplement the low concnrhing
an educational consultant. He told me that there has
been no establishment of qualifications, and that there
appeared to be no very definite ideas concerning what
the profestiooal qualifications ought to be. He in-
dicated that they also had in mind the possibility of
"contracting" with some professor or educational research
anency for a survey which he thought might meet the
"spirit of the law.
At that point I told him that my inquiries were prompted
by my desire to be considered for the position if I could
meet the standards established. He appeared to warm up
at that point, and told me that he had already mentioned
me to "several people" as a possibility for the [osition
and that he was glad to know how I felt about the matter.
We could not talk at length, and he is not very free to
do anything about it until the board meets o and possibly
until the new board members are appointed. He did, however,
tell me that he would be very friendly to my candidacy and
that he would want to discuss it further and 'hnt he would
koep an informed ooncnrning any activity in relation to the
position.
I don't knov of anything further to do at the moment, but
thought that you Iould be interested in this
