Dear Farris:

We have had a very plasaant and informative seriea of
discussions with Sherman Weiaa, and our inpreaciona have
been most favorable. Mr. Weiss came here for lunch laat
Wednesday and spent the afternoon with us, and on Friday
afternoon I Joined him in hadieon for a dinner in connection
with the conference he wee attending there. Mr. Surlee

waa there, too, and we had some Opportunity to become
acquainted. On Sunday Charlottaeand I went to weaton for
dinner with hr. and Mra. Weiaa.

We feel that we know much more about the Reference Bureau
and about the position we have been discuaaing with you,
and we are most interested in it.

We are most determined that nothing shall prevent our

departure for Florida this weekend. We plan to leave on
Saturday morning, and that should bring us to Ocala during

the day on Eonday the 15th. Mr. Surles and Er. Weias suggested

that it might be poaaible for your committee to meat in connection

with Homecoming at Oaineaville on the 20th and that it might be

wise to plan to be available at that time if the committee should

ap doairc. In evwnt that doaa happen we will plan to stay that
long even though we had heped to be back on the job here by the
22nd.

We will want to spend some time in Tallaheaeee checking on the
housing aituaticn there.

In the meantime I have been buoy reading the various reportc
which Hr. Weias left last week. I am impressed with their work,
as well as with the very definite progress which the legislature
haa made in the field of public education!

If it ahould happen that our arrival on the 15th ahonld be in-

convenient for your family, please advise us. We will change our

departure date, or we will plan to atop in Tallahassee on the
way down.

We appreciate your many ooneiderationa, end we are looking forward

to our visit with your family.
