Dear Farris,

Your kind letter of the 8th of June has deserved an

answer ion ago. When it arrived we were closing school

and I was getting under way for the 8 week summer term at
the state university. Everything was in such a Jumble

that i did well to get a letter or! to your friend, ur.
James L. Graham. As yet no answer tram him; I am enclosing
a copy of my letter to him ior your information.

This new assignment is a pretty good one in that it gives

me the type expcrionce I need, it gives me an opportunity to
use my sunumra at school working for the doctorate, and t
pays GDngh to keep the bodies and souls of the three bless
together. It is just getting underway with the opening or
school this week and we are looking forward to a good year.

That I am happy with my Job doesn't mean that I am not looking
around for a better one, and it doesn't mean that we wouldn't

be anxious to be closer to the Bryants. The possibility of
working awhile ina state department of education would represent
a distinct challenge, and I would like it. It seems to me,
however, that when the time comes in the future when I will
have earned a doctorate, a state department of education woul d
be takin~ less risk with me than they would at the present time.

lou were very kind to remember me in this connection and I am
indeed grateful.

Charlotte and Kathy are still at the lake after a very "mobile"
summer. I trust that they will be settling down at the end 0 I
this week und that your wife will be getting a little letter
[rem her soon. We remember the Bryants with a great deal of
affection, and I hope that we will be able to see each other non.
