I have your letter of July 15th at hand,
and have intended to reply long before this late date.
but in my new position I do considerable traveling
and my health this summer has not been the best. In
fact. I expect to undergo an operation during the next
few days for a Gall Bladder condition.

It does put me in a rather delicate posi-
tion, as my very good and faithful friend, layer Haydon
Burns of Jacksonville, is a potential candidate for this
esteemed office. In all of Hayden's political ventures
I have stood along side of him, giving him my utmost sup-

port in all sections of this city of progress, in which
he has been a giant factor and all his ventures have

been victorious. If Haydon does become a candidate I
owe my allegiance to him. however, he dues
h mself as a candidate I she







You may recall meeting me in the lobby of
the Capitol in Tallahassee some time o, and as you ap-
proached me I extended my hand saying Farris. I am ONE
who can honestly look you in the eye and say I voted for
you. together with Ara. Almond".

I do hope you will understand my feelings
in this matter and will be most happy to work diligently
for you in Duval County and the state, in the event that
haydon Burns does not become a candidate.
