Dear Farris:
I congratulate you on the fruitful meeting held last
Saturday. I feel that you have things well organized and
am ashamed that we have not contributed more effort and kind
locally, a situation which will soon be remedied.
I talked at length with Jack Laurence yesterday and asked
him if the group of contractors that we met with on September
zhth had made a decision. He advised that the group had de-
cided to wait until all the candidates had been announced_and
then would Ecol their money and efforts on behalf of the one
selected. e told me very emphatically that everybody was
much impressed with you and he felt confident that you would
get the group's support. He individually will be a part of
our organization and promises a contribution before long. He
ggig that the group would not contribute until after February
t .
The enclosed list will show the names and addresses of
those persons you met and talked with. At your convenience,
please write them your usual fine letter.
When the St. PetersEurg group selects its chairman and
other committee heads, I shall meet with them and co-ordinate
our efforts with theirs. I can romise you a friction-free
county wide organization. I we d be in agreement to let
the South Pinellas boys dominate the picture in order that
some unpleasant experiences of the past can be avoided. We
shall have a local organization composed of leaders from Largo,
glearwater and Dunedin, and a separate organiration in Tarpon
prings.
I have received a copy of Stuart Mann's October 8th letter
inviting you to speak to the Dunedin Democratic Group on Monday,
January 25th, and also to talk to the Dunedin Rotary Club the
next day. At about that time, doubtless you will have several
hundred different laces you should be and if so, a letter from
you to Stuart and shall supplement it by telling them of your
busy schedule. However, if it does work into your program, we

could plan a big meeting for Monday night, a breakfasc the next
morning for workers, you could speak to the Rotary Club at noon
and be on your way early afternoon. Frankly, I don't think it
is necessary, but we could use the opportunity to meet with your
campaign workers.
