Dear Farris;

Your telephone message the morning
after the election was a great pick-up from a
hard blow. l have recovered now. I have a
great number of pending cases and it helps to
have work to do to get your mind off of the
past. 1 don't know of a thing that could have
been done to prevent it but I am grateful to you
for your great help.

1 really don't believe that i want to go
to Washington. You know that I would enjoy
working with you but I am not convinced that it
is the thing for me to do. i told Olive of your
telephone call, and, although I doubt that anything
that you could do would improve your standing
with her. she was thrilled with the knowledge that
you were Still in there pitching and she was ready
to go. She has the wonderful faculty of being able
to adjust to anything.
