Dear "Governor":-

This belated note is to tell you how
much Mary and I appreciate the effort you and
your staff made towards getting us a pass-card
to the garden party in London in July. Although
we were unable to get on the list because it had
been closed for several months before we con-
tacted you, we do appreciate your efforts Just
as much as if they had been effective. The Em-
bassy, however, invited us to a reception for

the Kennedy scholars but we had other plans and
did not attend.

We spent a week in Switzerland, a week
in Denmark, a week in London, and a week in Mon-
treal; altogether we had a wonderful trip.

We think of you and Julia often as
there is a high value that we place upon your
friendship.
