of the Florida Stete University and there is a vacancy in the

presidency of that institution. and
WHEREAS, the task of selecting a successor now confronts

the State Board of Control. or its successor board, and the
State Board of Education. and

warns. this comittee in its concern for the highest
achievement in the operation and administration of the university

system desires to emphasize the importance of the: selection about

Florida State University. In so doing, the committee expresses
its desire. and a similar desire on behalf of the Legiolnturc
generally, to see the fincst.poseihlc leader secured for the
presidency of the Florida State university so that Florida
will have the excellence in this position that it seeks to

achieve in all phases of its state univeraity system.
