The Honorable Farris Bryant
711 Barnett First National Bank Building
Jacksonville. Florida
Dear Farris:
Thanks for your autoqraphed copy of TIME FOR PLORIDA.
I read the report with interest. It was easy to see that
the treatment you received by the newspapers. particularly
in this area. certainly was not fair. considering the facts
surrounding certain controversial matters.
Particularly in this area. the papers seemed to harp on
your refinancing of the turnpike bond issue when you ex-
tended the turnpike. the inference being that this was an
unnecessary expensive move on your part to do it in this
manner. Along this line. I talked with Hebe arvin, who.
as you will recall. is General Manager of the Authority.
and he said that what you did was the only thing that could
have been done, and every day proves you right.
I just hope when the opportunity presents itself that you
will be available to run for Senate. as I believe we need
a constructively conservative voice in our national
legislative body.
Give my best regards to Julia.
Sincerely.
JGP3bgr J. Gwyn arker
