The following letter from Dr. Charles A. nruech, M.D.. a tanner "eXpert"
witness at Congressional Fluoridation Hearinge, was in reply to an inquiny
regarding a six page statement by him entitled:$ame Dangers Attending
FluOridetion of Brinki Water", particularly the following excerpt from the
article, wing-"Sodium t ucride, in any solution or concentration, is a proto
pleamic poison. 1 ppm of this substance in the drinking water of the nation
would evantually cause great physical and mental distress, because it would
produce widespread allergy. Now about 10% or the people are allergic.
In our research,or five years in the traditional allergies such as hay
fever and asthma, we have established that basic substances such as bread.
milk, eggs, fish or fruit ingested daily can cause and keep these conditions
actiVated. Now these substances belong to a group of allergens classified
as "basic". because they are contacted daily. Sodium {lucride belongs to a
a group of allergens classified as "high eenaitiser. It is a chemical, a
protoplaanic poison, and therefore outside the "basic".
The individual reaction to constant ingestion of sodium fluoride 1 ppm
would be controlled b specific senaitivity rulings in each case.
Continued use in t e drinking water or children would in time render
them more susceptible to the ordinary diseases of childhood, thus entirely
defeating the purpose of the PLAN in the first place, because it is these
common infections of childhood that actually inhibit and deetroy the endo-
crinae the pituitany especially, which is directly responsible for good
tooth Eormntion, development and health. It would also render them highly
sensitive to leukemia, polio diabetes tuberculosis and cancer.
(Full 6 p 3 available of which above is an excerpt as soon as more copieg
are prin§ed, 10¢ ea.)
