Dear Farris:
Enjoyed hearing you on TV yesterday afternoon and. as
usual. i think you did a very splendid job. i was sitting in the
grill at the golf club when you came on the air and I heard quite
a bit of favorable comment.
Was hunting last Week with Justice '1. Frank Robson and his
son, Frank. Jr. and among other things, we discussed the '58
election coming up and likewise the '60 gubernatorial race. While
the Justice. of course. will be unable to participate actively. i believe
that he will say some very nice things about your ability and the type
of governor you would make, which will not be harmful. His son,
however, who is practicing law in St. Petersburg with the firm of
Holland, Betta & Robson, would become quite active. He has many
friends among the younger crowd in St. Petersburg, having lived
there all his life except for the time spent in the Marine Corps
and in college. i think it might be beneficial if you contacted him
the next time you are in that area. He indicated that he would like
to he on your team.
i regret to report that i have not made too much headway with
our friend Gautier as yet. However, he is planning to be my guest
in Tampa and Clearwater beginning Thursday of this week, playing
the Belleview Biltrnore Invitational tournament, and I shall give him
further treatment. Bunny. of course, has not yet recovered from the
rather raw deal that Collins handed him. although he still praises
Roy as being a very fine gavel-nor. in other words, Bonn is Just fed
up with politics at the moment but I shall continue to do what i can
in that direction.
