FLORIDA EAST COAS? RAILWAY COMPANY

J WIN" mun A WMAI A. MW". vmnse

01. A000... FLA.
Jacksonville, Florida.

June 27, 1960.

The Honorable Farris Bryant,
Ocala, Florida.

Dear Mr. Brysnt:

I am enclosing to you herewith copy of a letter
from Mr. W. T. Wolfe which is self explanatory, and copy of
my reply, along with page of pictures from the "Jacksonville
Journal" of June 11, 1960.

what Mr. Wolfe says is so true and if this had been
a passenger train instead of a cut of freight cars going from
one yard to another, the loss of life could have been much worse
even than it was.

Let me add that this accident was no fault of the
railroad personnel; as the driver of the Sinclair Oil Company
truck, going at slow speed, drove onto the railroad tracks,
directly in front of the engine, in spite of the warning signals,
the engine whistle and all precautions having been taken that
were possible by the railway employees.

Anything you can do to cause proper warning signs
to be put up on the highways to prevent a repetition of such
accidents as this one was will unquestionably be appreciated by
the travelling public.

Sincerely yours,

EllMRD BALL
