Dear Farris:

This will acknowledge receipt of your letter of Octo-
ber 19, 1959. in which you advised ne that you are
seriously contemplating entering the race for Governor
of Florida next year.

I feel that you are qualified in every respect and
will make the State of Florida an able and efficient
Governor.

Some years ago. I backed a candidate for Governor and
considering the fact that I was in the race for county
Judge. my political enemies made it very embarrassing

for me. Everything turned out alright but aince that
time in all State races. I have looked on but have not
taken any active part.

~I an sure you can understand and sopreciate my position.

Looking forward to seeing you in the near future and
with utmost personal regards. I an.
