Mr. Baya Harrison
Attorney at Law

First Federal Building
St. Petersburg. Florida

Dear Bays:

Now that the smoke of battle has
blown away and the sound and fury has
disappeared, I want to tell you again
how magnificent I thought you performed,
what a great service you did for Flor-
ida. and how very much I appreciate
your capable leadership, your unself-
ishness and your service to the State.

I am sorry for the developments
since January 5. but I am not dismayed.
There is in Democracy a stabilizing
force which counter-balances things of
this kind: there is in the programs you
instituted a continuity which cannot
be completely interrupted. The univer-
sity system is better because you played
such a part in it. and whatever happens
in the future will be begun from a
higher plateau because you were willing
to give so much of yourself.

Julia and I are enjoying Jackson-
ville and the practice of law immensely.
There will surely be occasion soon for
you to come up. and I hope you will
bring Virginia and stay with us.

Slncerely yours.

Farris Bryant
