Abstract: |
This brilliant orange panel with white text, the second of a series of anathemba produced by Kangezile MaMajoli Ndlovu for her fiancé, includes the exclamation, “Sikhuza usuthu,” translated as “Hurray, I like you.” Called out after a celebratory dance, the phrase is used in the context of the couple’s life to express joy at the birth of their child. The knots at the juncture of the cord, which symbolize clasped hands, are added to enhance the message. |
