APPOINTMENT.


APPOINTMENT OF PUISNE JUDGE,
WINDWARD AND LEEWARD ISLANDS.

Her Majesty the Queen has been
pleased to approve appointment of Mr.
JOSEPH LYTTLETON WILLS, Magistrate,
British Guiana to be a Puisne Judge of
the Supreme Court Windward and Lee-
ward Islands.
2. Mr. WILLS was born in British
Guiana in June 1899 and was educated
at Queen's College British Guiiana. He
was called to the Bar at Inner Temple
1928 and was appointed Clerk of Courts
to Magistrate in City Courts, George-
town, British Guiana, in 1919. He
resigned in 1930 to enter private pract-
ice at Bar in Georgetown. He was
Elected Member of Georgetown Town
Council in 1933 and remained a mem-
ber until 1947. He was elected to


Legislative Council in 1934 and ap-
pointed to his present post of Magistrate
British Guiana in 1947. Mr. Justice
WILLS will reside in St. Lucia.

Mr. J. V. ALVES, Inspector of Taxes,
Income Tax Department, has been
granted vacation and duty leave from
7th December, 1954, to proceed to the
United Kingdom to pursue a Course of
Instructions under the Colonial Devel-
opment and Welfare Training Scheme
at the Colonial Income Tax Office.
Mr. ALVES left the Colony on 7th
December, 1954. for Trinidad en route
to the United Kingdom.

Under the Bank Holidays Ordinance,
Saturday 25th December, (Christmas
Day) and Monday 27th December, 1954,


The Regional Ecouomic Committee
invites applications from suitably quali-
fied persons for the vacant post of
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
at an annual salary in the scale $3,360 x
$240-$3.840 per annum. Passages on
assumption and termination of appoint-
ment for the Administrative Assistant
and family up to five in all from and to
the place of engagement will be paid
by the (Committee. The post does not
at present carry pension or superan-
nuation rights.
2. The appointment will le for a
period up to the 31st December. 1955
in the first instance.
3. Candidates should possess admin-
istrative experience in relati< n to trade
and commercial matters and preference
will be given to candidates holding
special qualifications in those fields.
Candidates should be proficient in the
assembly and presentation of statistical
material, publicity material, etc. The
person selected will he required, inter
alia, to assist in regional surveys and
the collation of material for publications
and Information Bulletins of the
Secretariat.
4. The Committee reserves the right
to fill the post by invitation if no suit-
abl, application is received.
5. A',plications furnishing full details
of candidate's education, special quali-
fications and experience, together with
supporting documents and names of
two referees should be addressed to the
Executive Secretary, Regional Econo-

LICENCE.

It is hereby notified for general in-
formation that in accordance with the
provisions of Section 3 (1) of the Liq-
uor Licence Ordinance No. 11 of 1948,
"any person who shall sell, expose for
sale, or dispose of any intoxicating liq-
uor without being duly licensed to sell
the same. or at any place or in any
manner that he is not authorized by his
licence to sell the same, shall hle guilty
of an offence against Ihe Ordinance."
2. In order to avoid any incon ven-
ience on the first working day of the
new year to persons holding Certifi-
cates issued by the Licensing Board

150 tons and 300 tons lots of mixed
fertilizer containing 8% Nitrogen. 5%

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Annual Licensing
Sessions will be held in the undermentioned Parishes for the purpose of hear-
