ance with Section 30 of the Marriaqua
Village Council By-Laws, the Clerk of
the Marriaqna Village Council will be

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS.


The attention of Taxpayers is
to Section 12 of the Land and
Tax Ordinance No. 16 of 1922,
reads as follows:-
Any person who sha.ll


drawn
House
which


(a) become the owner of any land,
or house, or both whether by
purchase, gift, deed, parol, or in
any othermanner whatsoever;
(b) dispose of any land, or house,
o 'b3th, whether by sale, gift,
'deed,'parol, or in any other
manner whatsoever;
shall within 30 days after he has be-
come the owner or disposer of the
same, as aforesaid. make a return in
writing thereof to the Tax Officer.
Such return shall contain a true and
correct statement of the description,
situation, extent and nature of the
said land, or house, or both, and also,
in the case of a house its annual value
for rental.
2. Printed copies of the required
forms of the abovementioned return
are available for distribution and may
be obtained from the Treasury at Kings-
town 'or District Revenue Offices.

AN ORDINANCE further to amend the Registration of Births and
Deaths Ordinance (Cap. 150).

E. 2nd November, 1954. 1

Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.


1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Births
and Deaths (Amendment) Ordinance, 1954, and shall be read as
one with the Registration of Births and Deaths Ordinance, as
from time to time amended, which Ordinance, as so amended, is
hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance.

2. Section 23 of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended-
(a) by the substitution of the word "shall" for the word
"may" occurring in the sixth line of subsection (1)
thereof;
(b) by the insertion of the words given or before the word
"altered" occurring in the last line of subsection (2)
thereof;
(c) by the addition, after subsection (3) thereof, of the
following subsections :-
(4) If after the expiration of twelve months next
after the registration of the birth of any child, the parent,
guardian or other person procuring the baptismal
name or alteration of name of such child to be given or

altered as aforesaid shall request the Registrar to insert or
alter such name in the register, such name shall only be so
inserted or altered as aforesaid upon the written authority
of the Registrar General in that behalf and upon payment
of the appointed fee :
Provided that no such insertion or alteration shall be
made after the expiration of two years next after. the
registration of the birth of any child :
Provided further that the name of any person
who is on the first day of January One thousand nine
hundred and fifty-five under the age of twenty-one years
may, within twelve months after that date, be entered in
the register without the authority of the Registrar General
or any other person.
(5) Every person required by this Ordinance who,
within the period specified in this section shall fall to
comply with the provisions thereof shall be liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty-five
dollars."

3. Section 25 of the principal Ordinance is hereby repealed
and replaced as follows :-


"Saving for
father of
illegitimate
child.


25(1) In the case of an illegitimate child,
no person shall, as father of such child, be re-
quired to. give information under this Ordin-
ance concerning the birth of such child, and
the Registra'r shall not enter in the register
the name of any person as father of such child
unless-
(a) at the joint request of the mother and
of the person acknowledging himself to
be the father of such child, and
(b) such request is made within twelve
months from the date of the birth of
such child.
(2) If the register book containing the orig-
inal entry of the birth of such child as well as
the certified copy thereof have both been for-
warded to the Registrar General, subsection
(1) of this section shall have effect as if for
the word Registrar appearing therein there
were substituted the words "Registrar Gene-
ral ".

(Amendment) Ordinance, 1954, and shall be read as one with the
Local Government Ordinance, 1951, (hereinafter referred to as th?
principal Ordinance) and any amendments thereto.

2. Subsection 1 of section 16 of the principal Ordinance is
hereby amended by repealing paragraph (b) of the said subsection
and replacing the same by the following:-
(b) is absent from any three consecutive meetings of the
local authority without leave of the local authority; or "

Enacted by the Legislature of Saint Vincent.


1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Juvaniles
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1954, and shall be read as one with the
Juveniles Ordinance, 1952, (hereinafter referred to as the principal
Ordinance).

2. Subsection (1) of section 18 of the principal Ordinance is
hereby amended-
(a) by the deletion of the words, figures and signs Ordinance
may, notwithstanding the provisions of section 16 of the
Summary Conviction Offences Ordinance," occurring in
the fourth, fifth, and sixth lines thereof, and the
substitution therefore of the words and sign "Ordinance,
1939) may"; and
(b) by the deletion of the word, figures and signs "No. 14 of
1939. Cap. 14" occurring in the margin of the said
subsection and the insertion of the words and figures No
4 of 1939,"

PRISON (AMENDMENT) RULES. --

1. Short title. These Rules may be cited as the Prison (Amendment)
Rules, 1954, and shall be read as one with the Prison Rules, 1945, (S.R.&O. 1945,
No. 39) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Rules) and all amendments
thereto.

2. Part VI of principal Rules Revoked and Replaced.
Part VI of the principal Rules is hereby revoked and replaced as follows :-
"PART VI.
AID TO PRISONERS ON DISCHARGE.
274. A1D ON DISCHARGE. Prisoners on discharge shall be granted
financial aid from a fund set aside for that purpose at the rate of twenty-five
cents per month of sentence served. The Superintendent may, in his
discretion, increase such aid according to the needs and -prospects of
rehabilitation of the individual cass ".

Act, 1938, this 22nd day of October, 1954.

CURRENCY (NOTES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS.


(Gazetted 2nd November, 1954).


1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the Currency (Notes)
(Amendment) Regulations, 1954, and shall be read as one with the Currency
('Notes) Regulations, 1951, (S.R. & O. 1951, No. 79) (hereinafter referred to as the
principal Regulations) and all amendments thereto.

2. Regulation 20 (3) of principal Regulations replaced.
Subsection (3) of section 20 of the principal Regulations is hereby revoked and the
following substituted therefore :--
(3) Ordinary surveys shall be held at least quarterly, and in addition
at least one surprise survey should be held in each year. The Governor may
order a surprise survey at any time."


Made by the Governor under section 12 of the Currency Ordinance, 1950, (No.
17 of 1950) after consultation with the Board of Commissioners of Currency,
British Caribbean Territories (Eastern Group) and with the approval of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies, this 26th day of October, 1954.
