VISIT OF B.W.I. TRADE COMMISSIONER
IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.
In accordance with the recommenda-
tions of the Regional Economic Com-
mittee at its 7th Meeting, Mr. GARNET
H. GORDON, C.B.E., recently appointed
B.W.I. trade Comimissioner in the Unit-
ed Kingdom, will undertake a short tour
of the British Caribbean commencing
from St. Lucia on 1st February, for the
purpose of increasing his personal con-
tacts with industrial, traie and produce
exporting interests in the region prior
to the assumption of his duties in
London.
Mr. GORDON proposes to visit St.
Vincent arriving by plain on Friday,
18th February and departig on Mon-
day a.m. 22nd February, 1954. Ar-
rangements are being made for Mr.
GORDON to meet the Chamber of Com-
merce and other similar bodies. Mem-
bers of the mercantile community who
will like to interview Mr. GORDON are
asked to get in touch with Mr. A. V.
SPROTT, Controller of Supplies, who
will endeavour to arrange individual
appointments, which will most likely
be fixed for the afternoon of Friday 19th
February, 1954.

that the 16 mrm. Gebescope Projector,
which has been presented to this Colony
by the British Council, will be made
available to responsible organizations
and institutions for the ipurplose of
showing instructional films or films
which are of educational interest.

of the Education Officer, and organisa-
tions wishing to have the use of it should
contact him.

Business Houses and other persons are
hereby informed that Go vernien t Local
Purchase Orders which hitherto have
been used for the supply of stores will,
in future, be used also for the supply of
any kind of service.
2. Treasury Payment Vouchers will
no 1)nger be provided for the making
up by suppliers of their claims on
Government. Suppliers will bill Go ern-
ment in the normal way for the amounts
due supporting their invoices with
duplicate copies of the relevant Local
Purchase Orders. Arrangements have
been made to effect settlement on a
monthly basis but in any instances
where payment is not made during the
month succeeding that in which trans-
actions took place, suppliers are invited
to inform the Colonial Treasurer of the
omission. The practice does not apply
to transactions effected in the month of
December in any year, payment for
which will be made by Government
before 31st December.
3. The present Local Purchase Order
form is issued i duplicate, a new form
will shortly be introduced which will be
issued to Suppliers in triplicate. The
Original of this new Form should be
retained by the Supplier, the Duplicate
should be priced and returned with tbh
goods supplied and the Triplicate should
be attached to the Supplier's invoice or
statement rendered at the month end.

INCOME TAX NOTICES.
The attention of the public is drawn
to the proviso of Subsection 2 (1,) of
Ordi lance Nc. 1 of 1954, which deals
with the allowance' to be -iven lor re-
pairs to premises for the purpos- of
ascertaining the chargeable inctine of
any person, and reads as follows:--
Prouvided that the deduction of any
sum expended for the repair of
premises shall be limited to the siun
actually expended for that purpose
according to the average of three
years preceding the y'ar of us-e s-
ment, but shall not in any one year
xceed tlhe annual value or rents of
sne'h premises."
Claims will be entertained only if they
are sublstatiated by detailed statements
of expenditure SUPPORTED BY
VOUCHERS, I.E. BILLS AND IlE-
CEIPTS. All persons are therefore
invited to submit the necessary state-
ments when making their returns for
the year of assessment 1954. Failure to
do so will result in tile disallowance of
the claim.

All Government Officers are hereby
reminded that the lateLt date for the
submission of Income Tax Returns Icr
assessment in the year 1954 is the 31st
January, and that failure to give notice
of chargeability is an offence against the
Income Tax Ordinance, rendering the
person concerned liable on conviction
to a fine not exceeding FOUR HUN-
DRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income,
accruing in, derived from the Colony
or elsewhere and whether received in
the Colony or not for the preceding
vea.', exceeded the statutory limit of
$480 is required to submit a return in
the prescribed form notwithstanding
thai on account of approved deductions
no tax may eventually be chargeable,
and particular attention is directed to
the fact that the term "income" is
deemed to include not only money but
also allowances in kind.
3. Efforts a-e being nmae to send

through their Heads of Deptartment. It
is to ie clearly understood. however,
that a person' is int exonerated 'from the
statutory liability to make a return even
thrmgh that person may not have re-
ceived a blank form, which may be

therein. These Forms mny also be ob-
tained from the Income Tax Office,
Kingstown, where any person requiring
information in connection therewith is

2,020 cotton bags of 100 lb. each Enriched E Grade Flour.
The E Grade Flour must be milled solely from Canadian Hard Spring Wheat
not lower in grade than No. 3 Northern and must be of the following minimum

The name of the miller, analysis of the flour, the enrichment standard and

accompany documents. The Controller, however, exercises the right to arrange
for samples to b6 drawn and analysed on his behalf.
Shipping documents must include date of shipment of all flour and in the case
of the Enriched Flour must also indicate that it is enriched, and "Vitamin
Enriched Flour musu be stencilled on each bag.
Shipment musK be made during the first half of March, 1954.
The Controller of Supplies does not bind himself to purchase flour at the
Icwest cr any offer.
