(Q. 9/1946).

Consumers and wiremen are advised
that it is an offence to install any appli-
ance having a power factor less than
80%. It has been observed that Fluores-
cent lights have been installed without,
Power Factor correction equipment i.e.
Condensors.
It is well known that Fluorescent
lighting has a very low power factor that
is to say that a considerable amount of
current used, is known as Wattless and
does not register on the ordinary meter.
It is my intention to inspect all Fluo-
rescent lighting installations, and dis-

connect those without power factor
correction.

No. 4 engine at the Power Station will
be closed down for overhaul about the
2nd week in February. Load shedding
will be inevitable from 6.15 p.m. to
9 p.m. and all consumers are asked to
minimise this by using as little as
possible. Every effort will be made to
avoid inconvenience.
