CONVENTION REGARDING LEGAL PRO-
CEEDINGS IN CIVIL AND COMMERCIAL
MATTERS BETWEEN THE UNITED
KINGDOM AND AUSTRIA.
Notes have been exchanged between
the Government of the United Kingdom
and the Austrian Government providing
for the continued application of the
Convention of 31st March, 1931, regard-
ing legal proceedings in Civil and Com-
mercial matters.
The Convention has also been made
applicable to Scotland, Northern Ireland,
the Channel Islands, aid the Isle of
Man, and to various other territories,
including the Windward Islands.
The effective date of the agreement
is 28th June, 1951.

partment has for disposal its Public
Address System, consisting of Trwo New
Loud Speakers, amplifier and carbon
microphone.
The equipment can be viewed at any

80%. It has been observed that Fluores-
cent lights have been installed without
Power Factor correction equipment i e.

is to say that a considerable amount (of
current used, is known as Wattless and
does not register on the or iinary meter.
It is my intention to inspect all Fluo-

be closed down for overhaul about the
2nd week in February. Load shedding
will be inevitable from 6.15 p.m. to
9 p.m. and all consumers are asked to
minimise this by using as little as
possible. Every effort will be made to
avoid inconvenience.

INCOME TAX NOTICES.
TO GOVERNMENT OFFICERS.
All Government Officers are hereby
reminded that the latest date for the
submission of income tax returns for
assessment in the year 1952 is the 81st
January, and that failure to give notice
6f chargeability is an offence against the
Income Tax Ordinance, rendering the
person concerned liable on conviction to
a fine not exceeding FOUR HUNDRED
AND EIGHTY DOLLARS.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income,
accruing in, derived from the Colony or
elsewhere and whether received in the
Colony or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $480 is
required to submit a return in the pre-
scribed form notwithstanding that on
account of approved deductions no tax
may eventually be chargeable, and par-
ticular attention is directed to the fact
that the term "income" is deemed to
include not only money but also allow-
ances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
blank return forms to such persons
through their Heads of Department. It
is to be clearly understood, however,
that a person is not exonerated from
the statutory liability to make a return
even though that person may not have
received a blank form, which may be
obtained, on application at the Revenue
Offices at Georgetown, Barrouallie, Be-
quia and Union Island, or, in other
districts, from the Police Station situate
therein. These forms may also be ob-
tained from the Inconme Tax Office,
Kingstown, where any person requiring
information in connection therewiith is
invited to enquire.

TO GOVERNMENT OFFICERS.
All Government Officers are hereby
reminded that the latest date for the
submission of income tax returns for
assessment in the year 1952 is the 81st
January, and that failure to give notice
6f chargeability is an offence against the
Income Tax Ordinance, rendering the
person concerned liable on conviction to
a fine not exceeding FOUR HUNDRED
AND EIGHTY DOLLARS.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income,
accruing in, derived from the Colony or
elsewhere and whether received in the
Colony or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $480 is
required to submit a return in the pre-
scribed form notwithstanding that on
account of approved deductions no tax
may eventually be chargeable, and par-
ticular attention is directed to the fact
that the term "income" is deemed to
include not only money but also allow-
ances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
blank return forms to such persons
through their Heads of Department. It
is to be clearly understood, however,
that a person is not exonerated from
the statutory liability to make a return
even though that person may not have
received a blank form, which may be
obtained, on application at the Revenue
Offices at Georgetown, Barronallie, Be-
quia and Union Island, or, in other
districts, from the Police Station situate
therein. These forms may also be ob-
tained from the Income Tax Office,
Kingstown, where any person requiring
information in connection therewit h is
invited to enquire.

CONVENTION REGARDING LEGAL PRO-
CEEDINGS IN CIVIL AND COMMERCIAL
MATTERS BETWEEN THE UNITED
KINGDOM AND AUSTRIA.
Notes have been exchanged between
the Government of the United Kingdom
and the Austrian Government providing
for the continued application of the
Convention of 31st March, 1931, regard-
ing legal proceedings in Civil and Com-
mercial matters.
The Convention has also been made
applicable to Scotland, Northern Ireland,
the Channel Islands, and the Isle of
Man, and to various other territories,
including the Windward, Islands.
The effective date of the agreement
is 28th June, 1951.
