VACANT POST IIANDICRAFTS OFFICER

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT AND YOUTH AFFAIRS.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for appointment
to the post of Handicrafts Officer, Min-
istry of Education, Community Develop-
ment and Youth Affairs.
The post is pensionable and carries
a salary in the scale V26-21 $3,600 X
$240-$4,800. Transport is payable in
accordance wth local regulations.
The officer will be responsible to the
Community Development Officer for the
successful functioning of the rural
Handicraft.s Centres throughout St. Vin-
cent and the Greni,:idines, which entails:
(ai) Training of lo(al craftsmen in
the various skills associated with
the haniici'eft industry, includ-
ing), elmentarvy management andl
pricing techniques.


(b) Creating and implementing
original designs with a view to
diversifying the industry.
(c) Supervising production to ensure
maintenance of desirable stand-
ards.
(d) Any other duties relative to the
Handicraft Industry as may from
time to time become necessary.
Applicants must possess at least four
(4) G.C.E. subjects at Ordinary level,
including English and Mathematics.
Experience and/or Training in Indus-
trial Arts or any other allied field will
be of advantage.

MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT

The Caribbean Investment Corpora-
tion intends to appoint a General Man-
ager to be responsible to the Board of
Directors for the administration and
execution of its policy.
The Caribbean Investment Corpora-
tion was established as a special instru-
ment to assist in the industrial develop-
ment of the less developed countries of
the Commonwealth Caribbean. It was
chartered by Inter-Governmental agree-
mnent among member countries of the
Caribbean Free Trade Association and
will act as a venture capital Corpora-
tion investing in the equity capital of
enterprises located in the less developed
countries of the area and will comple-
ment loan capital facilities.
The Headquarters of the Corporation
will be established in St. Lucia.
Candidates for the post of General
Manager should be nationals of the Com-
nmonwealth Caribbean and have practi-
cal experience in major development
project planning, development banking,
or commercial banking practice associ-
ated with development planning.
It is desirable that such experience
should be supported by training at
University level or its equivalent.
The appointment will be on contract
for a term of three years. Tax free
emoluments will be $24,000 p.a. and
conditions of service will include 20%
e;r;]tuity; housing, ear and entertain-
ment allowances; and 30 working daya
vacation leave p.a.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND
FELLOWSHIP PLAN:
POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN
TROPICAL AGRICULTURE; 1974:
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO.

The Government of Trinidad and
Tobago has invited St. Vincent to nomi-
nate a suitably qualified graduate for
the award of a Commonwealth Scholar-
ship in Tropical Agriculture.
2. The Scholarship is tenable from
October 1974, at the University of the
West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad.
The award will be for two years in the
first instance.
3. The scholarship covers expenses
for travel, living and study. Family
allowances are payable, provided that
the scholar's family accompany him to
Trinidad and that his wife is not em-
ployed. No passages are provided for
dependents, however.
4. Applicants should not have
reached their 35th birthday by 1st
October, 1974. Preference will be
given to candidates between 22 and 28
years of age.
5. The successful candidate will be
required to sign a Bond, with sureties,
to return to St. Vincent for a specified
period, on completion of his studies.
6. Applications, on Form T1, should
be submitted to the Chief Personnel
Officer for attention of Training Offi-
cer by 31st October 1973. The names
and addresses of three referees, two of
them persons under whom the candi-
date has worked or studied, should be
submitted with the application forms.
Copies or ccrtifi ates and/or diplomas
should also be attached.
7. Applications which are incom-
plete or not supported by the required
documents will not be entertained.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND
FELLOWSHIP PLAN AWARDS TO THE
UNITED KINGDOM AND CANADA
1973/74.

The Governments of the United
and Canada have invited nominations
from St. Vincent of suitably qualified
men and women, for the award of
Commonwealth Scholarships tenable at
Universities in the United Kingdom and
Canada. Awards will be available in
the academic year commencing Septem-
ber 1974.
2. Commonwealth Scholarships are
available primarily for advanced study
or research and are open to graduates
of recognized universities.
3. Post graduate awards in medicine
are available under the United King-
dom Commonwealth Medical Award
Scheme.
4. Under special circumstances, and
where a particular undergraduate pro-
gramme is not available in the area,
applications for undergraduate award
may be considered. Vincentians may
therefore apply for undergraduate
courses in the following fields:
Agricultural Engineering
Drama
Food Chemistry
The minimum requirement is three
'A' Levels, preferably with A-C
grades. No E grades will be accepted.
5. Applicants should not have
reached their 35th birthday by 1st
October, 1974 although in special cir-
cumstances this age limit may be
raised. Preference will in any case be
given to candidates between 22 and 28
years of age.
6. Awards will normally be made
for a period of two academic years, un-
less the course requirement demands
less. Medical awards are made forone
year in the first instance but may be
extended up to a maximum of three
years where the United Kingdom Com-
mission considers it appropriate.
7. Each scholarship covers expenses
for travel, living and study. A mar-
riage allowance is payable in the
United Kingdom and Canada, provided
the Scholar's spouse has accompanied
him/her and is not on scholarship or in
paid employment. Two-thirds of the
spouse's return fare is payable to
Caniadian Coinmonwealth Scholars.
No provision is made for any depend-
ants' passages to the United Kingdom.

8. Successful candidates will be re-
quired to sign a Bond, with sureties to
return to St. Vincent on completion of
their studies for a specific period.

VACANT POST-ASSISTANT FISHERIES
OFFICER


MINISTRY OF TRADE, AGRICULTURE AND
GRENADINES AFFAIRS


Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Assistant Fisheries Officer, Department
of A grculture, Ministry of Trade, Agri-
culture and Grenadines Affairs.
The post is non-pensionable and in
the salary scale V 40-20-$1,680 X
$60-$1,800 X $120-$2,520 X $180-
$3,600/$3,840 X $240-$4,800 X $300-
$5,100. Transport allowance at the ap-
proved rate is also payable.
The Officer will be required to observe
the methods and problems of fishermen
and to advise them on improvement of
fishermen gear, methods of fishing, pre-
servation of fish, selection and purchase
of equipment etc.
He will be required to explore means
of improving the marketing of fish, to
collect statistics, to encourage the for-
mation of fisheries associations and co-
operatives and to ensure the enforcement
of legislation pertaining to the protec-
tion of the Fishing Industry.
HI- will be requested to perform such
other duties relating to the Industry
which may be assigned to him by the
Chief Agricultural Officer.
Preference may be given to applicants
with (a) experience in fishing and/or
having a sea-faring background and (b)
Passes at ordinary Level in the General
Certificate of Education or equivalent
standard particularly in English Lan-
guage and Mathematics.

CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY SECIZETARIAT

VACANCY FOR INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
ADVISER


Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Industrial Relations Adviser in the
Caribbean Community Secretariat.
2. Duties: The Industrial Relations
Adviser will be responsible to the Sec-
retary-General for the efficient perform-
ance of his functions.
The duties of the post include:
(i) servicing the meetings of the
Standing Committee of Minis-
ters responsible for Labour, an
Institution of the Caribbean
Community established under
Article 10 of the Caribbean
Community Treaty;
(ii) follow-up action in connection
with the decisions of the Stand-
ing Committee of Ministers res-
ponsible for Labour;
(iii) advising the Standing Commit-
tee of Ministers responsible for
labour on matters relating to
the development of industrial
relations, labour legislation, man-
power policies and other related
matters;
(iv) assisting in the coordination of
Member States' policies towards
the ILO and other internat-onal
bodies concerned with Labour;
and
(v) establishing and maintaining close
contact with the regional trade
union and employers organisa-
tions in furtherance of the objec-
tives covered in the foregoing
responsibilities.
3. Qualifications: Applicants should
normally possess a University Degree or
acceptable equivalent qualification and
considerable experience in industrial
relations in a position of high responsi-
bility, but consideration will also be
given to non-graduates with extensive
experience and special training.

4. Salary and A1Powances: The salary
of the post is EC$17,400 per annum. In
addition the holder will be paid house
allowance of EC$3,000 per annum.

5. Recruitment and Appointment:
Appointment may be on a permanent
basis with the Caribbean Community
Secretariat or on secondment from the
Government Service of a Member State.
It will be subject to such other regula-
tions, rules, orders and instructions as
may exist and as may be introduced
from time to time in respect of service
with the Secretariat.

A candidate recruited from abroad
on first appointment will be provided
ecioiny crass air passages iy the most
direct route for himself, his wife, and
his children up to a maximum of 3 pro-
vided they are below the age of 18,
unmarried and dependent on him and
for such other dependents to a maxi-
mum of two as may be approved by the
Secretary-General.
In addition to passages the officer will
be granted the following transportation
allowances-
(a) ocean freight charges of shipping
his personal and household effects
not exceeding twenty (20) tons
ship's measurement (800 cubic
feet), plus a motor car (if the
officer already owns one).
(b) the cost of transporting his
baggage, personal and household
effects from his home to the place
of embarkation and from the port
.of disembarkation to the place of
residence in Guyana;
(c) the cost of crating personal and
household effects;

A settlement Grant will be paid to
the successful candidate recruited from
abroad when he actually takes up his
duties in Guyana at the following
rates-

6. Leave Facilities: The successful
-candidate will be eligible for the grant
of vacation leave at the rate of thirty-
five working days per annum and a leave
passage allowance in respect of himself
and his family.


7. Privileges and Immunities: The
successful candidate will be granted the
privileges and immunities normally ex-
tended to members of the diplomatic
corps. It has also been agreed that staff
members of the Secretariat will not pay
income tax to the Government of Guyana
or in the case of staff recruited from
Member States to their home Govern-
ments.
8. Superannuation Benefits: Mem-
bership of the Secretariat's pension
scheme is compulsory for all eligible
employees.
The successful candidate will be re-
quired to contribute 5% of his salary to
the scheme. In the case of a staff mem-
ber recruited on secondment the Sec-
retariat will pay to the staff member's
employer a contribution at a rate of up
to 25% of the pensionable salary nor-
mally payable to the staff member by
that employer during the period of his
secondment so as to maintain his super-
annuation benefits.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS
OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT
OF INDIA 1974/75

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the award of
Scholarships to India under the Com-
monwealth Scholarship and Fellowship
Plan 1974/75. Scholarships are ten-
able for a period of one to three years.
2. The plan provides for transporta-
tion to and from India, approved tuition
and other compulsory University fees,
maintenance and book allowances.
3. App 1 i c ant s for post-graduate
courses should preferably be between the
ages of 20-25 years and should have
passed the Bachelor's degree in at least
Second Division.
4. Awards may be made for under-
graduate studies, in fields not available
at the University of the West Indies.
Applicants should preferably be between
the ages of 17 and 22 years and should
possess G.C.E. 'A' Levels in at least 2
subjects.

Hill, St. Michael, Barbados died on the 11th day of January, 197o at Codrington
Hill, St. Michael, Barbados a bachelor without known issue or parent, brother
or sister of the whole blood or half blood or their issue and that the said
Winifred Foster is a creditor of the said deceased.

NOW this is to command you that within one month after service by
Publication hereof on you inclusive of the day of such service you do cause an
appearance to be entered for you in the principal Probate Registry at Kingstown,
St. Vincent and accept or refuse Letters of Administration of all the estate
which by Law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said
deceased or show cause why the claim of the said Winifred Foster should not
be preferred from the personal estate of the said deceased your absence

AGRICULTURAL WORKERS WAGES REGULATION ORDER.


(Gazetted 23rd October, 1973).

1. Short title. This Order nmay be cited as the Agricultural Workers.
Wages Regulation Order, 1973.
2. Remuneration and Holidays. The statutory minimum remuneration
payable to workers to whom the Wages Council (Agricultural) Order (S.R &
0. 1956, No. 19), applies, as well as holidays to be allowed, shall be in accord-
ance with the provisions contained in the Schedule to this Order.
3. Cancellation. The Agricultural Workers Wages Regulation Order,
1970 (S.R. & 0. 1970, No. 45), is hereby cancelled.
4. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 30th day
of October, 1973.

SCHEDULE

1. The minimum remuneration to bi--nfo workers to whom this Order
applies, employed on time work, shall be as follows:-
MEN -$3.50 per day for a day of 8 hours
WOMEN -$2.80 per day for a day of 8 hours
MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR OVERTIME
2. Whenever a worker to whom this Order applies, employed on time
work, works with the consent of his employer for more than eight hours on
any ordinary day he shall be paid (except as is hereinafter provided) for
every hour or part thereof time and a half, and for all work done on Sundays

and Public Holidays, double time: Provided that this does not apply to stock-
men, grooms, and workers employed on the shift system but whose total earn-
ings must not be less than the daily minimum wage when such earnings are
divided by the number of days worked in the period whether paid on a weekly,
fortnightly or monthly basis.

MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR WATCHMEN
3. Watchmen employed under this Order shall not receive less than the
daily minimum wage whn such earnings are divided by the number of hours
actually worked in the period whether paid on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly
basis.

MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR PIECE WORK AND TASK WORK.
4. The minimum remuneration to be paid to workers to whom this Order
applies, when employed on piece work, or task work, shall be as follows:
Digging Arrowroot: 653 per basket measuring 28" in diameter and filled
to a height of 14"
Digging Peanuts 40( per krosene tin filled to Ihe height of the tin;
Picking Cotton 4f; per 1b. (No deduction for moisture).

lProvided that where a worker is employed on any piece work or task work
the employer shall be deemed to pay wages at less than the minimum wage
unless he shows that the rate for a period of 8 hours was not less than the
minimnmn wage for a day:

HOLIDAYS 'WITHI PAY
5. Every worker to whom this Order applies shall be entitled to holidays
with pay as follows:-
1. 8 days holiday wth pay for 176 days and over worked
2. 7 days holiday with pay for 151-175 days worked
:3. 6 days holiday with pay for 126-150 days worked
4. 5 days holiday with pay for 100-125 days worked.

DOMESTIC SERVANTS WAGES REGULATION ORDER.


(Gazetted 23rd October, 1973).


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Domestie Servants Wages
Regulation Order, 1973.

2. Remuneration and Holidays. The statutory minimum remuneration
payable to persons employed in domestic service as well as holidays to be
allowed shall be in accordance with the provisions contained in the Schedule
to this Order.

3. Cancellaton. The Domestic Servants' Wages Regulation Order, 1970
(S.R. & 0. 1970, No. 48) is hereby cancelled.

4. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day
of November, 1973.

SCHEDULE

-WAGE RATES:
1. (a) The minimum rate of wages to be paid to domestic workers shall
be as follows:-

Provided that persons working for the first time as domestics or persons
without adequate references shall be paid on probation for a period of 6 months
and shall be paid the minimum rate as follows:-
With Meals Without Meals
$35 per month $55.00 per month
(b) Any domestic servant employed on a day 10o day basis shall be paid at
the minimum rate of $3.00 for an eight-hour day or part thereof, without meals.

HOURS OF WORK
2. (a) The week shall be considered, as beginning on Monday morning
and ending on Sunday evening.
(b) Hours of work shall not exceed ten in the day.
Provided that for persons supplied with living quarters the hours of work shall
not exceed eleven in any day.
(c) During the hours of work, breaks of two hours shall be allowed which
shall include one hour for meals.
(d) Whenever it is necessary to keep a domestic worker at work on special
occasions for any period in excess of the stipulated number of hours, the
employer shall be required to give this extra time off to her on another" day of
the week.

WEEKLY REST PERIOD
3: Every domestic worker shall be granted one free afternoon in each.
week, and in addition two free Sundays in each month.

HOLIDAYS WITH PAY:
4. (a) Every domestic worker shall be entitled to one week's Holiday
with full pay after 12 months continuous service with one employer and two
weeks holiday with full pay for every subsequent period of 12 months. This
holiday shall be given within one month of its becoming due, but at the request
of either party it may be deferred to a later date.
(b) Every domestic, worker shall, in addition to the above, be entitled to
one week's sick leave with full pay on production of a medical certificate before
the third day of absence from work through illness should she become ill after
the completion of (i months conttinuous service with one employer.

Order 1958 (S.R. & 0. 1958, No. 25) applies, as well as holidays to be allowed
shall be in accordance with the provisions contained in the Schedule to this
Order.
3. Cancellation. The Industrial Workers Wages Regulnat.n Order 1970
(S.R. & 0. 1970, No. 46) is hereby cancelled.
4. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 30th day
of October, 1973.

SCHEDULE
1. MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR TIME WORK.
The minimum remuneration to be paid to workers to whom this Order
applies, employed on time work, shall be as follows:
Workers in Industrial Undertakings4 set out .in paragraphs (a), (b), (c)
and (d) of the Schedule to the Wages Council industriall Undertakings) Order,
1958 (S.R. & 0. 1958, No. 25) :
MEN -$5.25 per day for a day of 8 hours
WOMEN -$3.90 per day for a day of 8 hours

Provided that persons specified in paragraph (e) of the Schedule to the
Wages Council (Inldustrial Undertakings) Order, 1958, who are employed in
cleaning and clearing road side drains and trimming grass verges and roadside
embankments and removing litter caused Ly such clearing operations and any
other unskilled workers specified in that paragraph shall be paid a minimum
of:-
MEN -$14.00 per day for a day of 8 hours
AWOMEN -$3.00 per day for a day of 8 hours
2. MINIMUM REMI[UNERATI()N FOR OVERTIME
Whenever a worker to whom this Order applies, employed on time work,
works with Ihe consent of his employer, for more than 8 hours on an ordinary
day or a Public Holid;!y, he shall be paid (except as hereinafter provided)
for every hour or part thereol', time and a half, aml for all work done on any
PUBLIC I()L.IDAY or Sumnday double time.
Provided that this does n]1 apply to woilker(, employed on the shift system
but whose earnings shall nol be less Than the daily minimum wage when such
earnings are divided lIy the number of days worked in the period, whether paid
on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
3. MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR WATCHMEN
Any watelhman employed in Industrial 'Undertakings set out in paragraphs
(a), (b), (e) anI (1) of the Wages Council (Industrial Undertakings) Order,
1958, shall be paid $5.25 per shift of 12 hours.
Provided 1 iat this schedule shall not he construed as entitling watchmen
to be paid overtime rates for watching on Sundays or Public Holidays.
4. REST PERIOD
Every watchman to whom this Order applies, shall be granted one free
night with full pay per fortnight.
5. MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR PIECE WORK AND TASK
WORK
The mininnin remuneralion to lie paid to workers to whom this Order
applies, when employed on piece work for a period of 8 hours shall not be less
than the daily minimum wage.
6. HOLIDAYS WITH PAY
Every worker to whom this Order applies shall be entitled to holidays with
pay as follows:--
(a) 14 working days holiday with pay for 201 days and over worked;
(b) 12 working days holiday with pay for 176-200 days worked;
(e) 10 working days holiday with pay for 151-175 days worked;
((d) h Workilu days holiday with pay for 12(i-150 days worked;
(e) 6 working days holiday with pay for 100-125 days worked.









7. SICK LEAVE
A worker shall, in addition to the above, be entitled to 7 days sick leave
with full pay on the production of a Medical Certificate, should he become ill
at any time after the completion of 166 days.


NOTE
WORKERS TO WHOM THIS ORDER APPLIES AS PROVIDED BY
THE WAGES COUNCIL (INDUSTRIAL UNDERTAKINGS)
ORDER, 1958.


Any worker employed by any person, firm, association, company, corporation
or undertaking (not including workers to whom the Wages Council (Agricul-
tural) Order 1956 and the Wages Council (Port Workers) Order, 1957) apply)
engaged in connection with the following industrial undertakings:-
(a) Mines, quarries and other works for the extraction of mineral from
the earth.
(b) Industries in which articles are manufactured, altered, cleaned, re-
paired, ornamented, finished, adapted for sale, broken up, demolished or in
which materials are transformed, including ship-building and the generation,
transformation and transmission of electricity and motive power of any kind.
(c) Construction, reconstruction, maintenance, repair, alteration or de-
molition of any building, harbour dock, pier, canal, inland waterway, road,
tunnel, bridge, viaduct, sewer, drain, well, telegraphic or telephonic installation,
electrical undertaking, waterwork or other work of construction as well as the
preparation for or laying of the formation of any such work or structure.
(d) Transport of passengers or goods (including agricultural produce and
fertilizers) by road or waterway, (but excluding transport by hand and inter-
island transport).

SHOP ASSISTANTS WAGES REGULATION ORDER,

1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Shop Assistants' Wages
Regulations Order, 1973.
2. Remuneration and Holidays. The statutory minimum remuneration
payable to persons employed in shops, as well as holidays to be allowed, shall
be in accordance with the provisions contained in the Schedule to this OrCer.
3. Cancellation. The Shop Assistants' Wages Regulation Order, 1970
(S.R. & 0. 1970, No. 47) is hereby cancelled.
4. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 30th day
of October, 1973.

Provided that the minimum remuneration to be paid to the sales clerks
under 18 years and over. the age of 14 years shall be seventy-five per centum
of the above.

Provided ft'ilher that sales clerks of 18 years of age and over who have
been employed ftr the first time as a clerk shall be paid for the first six months
seventy-five per centum of the above rate and thereafter the above minimum
rates shall be paid.

"Sales Clerk" means any person engaged in selling goods or articles
to members of the public and includes cashiers and persons employed at Gas

"Checker-oul Boy" means any penron under 18 years of age engaged in
packaging goods at a counter for customers.
"Office Boy" means any person under 18 years of age performing the

"Oflice Messenger" means any person over 18 years of age performing.tho
dulles of messenger in the office of a shop.
"Packer" means any person working in the store weighing and parcelling
goods and packing goods in the display shelves in a sales room and persons
engaged in assorting and packing goods in the store room and delivering goods

"Cleaner" means any person working on the premises of a shop and per-

"Porter" means any person transporting goods to or from a shop or place

holidays or at nights:

(a) Male $135.00 per month
(b) Female $110.00 per month

Provided that the minimum remuneration to be paid to all office clerks
under the age of 18 years and over the age of 14 years shall be seventy-five
per centum of the above rates.

Provided further that office clerks 18 years and over who have been em-
ployed for the first time as an office clerk shall be paid for the first six months
not less than eighty per centum of the above rate and thereafter the above
minimum rate shall apply.
"Office Clerlk" means a book-keeper, a typist or any person employed in a
shipping, commission, estate or insurance office.

2. OVERTIME WAGES
(1) Every person employed:-
(a) in or about the business of any shop- .
(i) on a Public Holiday; or
(ii) during any period in excess of eight hours including one
hour for meals on any day; or
(iii) during a period of natural disaster
(b) in or about the business of an Airport Shop-
(i) on Sundays; or
(ii) earlier than eight o'clock in the morning or later than four
o'clock in the evening of any day.
(c) in or about the business of any shop other than in Airport Shop
or Pharmacy-
(i) during any period in excess of forty-four hours in any week;
or
(ii) later than four o'clock in the afternoon on any day during
the Christmas shopping season
shall be entitled to be paid overtime for the period during which he is employed.
(2) The hourly rates of overtime shall be:-
(a) in respect of employment-
(i) in any shop outside the prescribed hours of business during
the period of a natural disaster; or
(ii) in any shop other than an Airport Shop or Pharmacy during
the period in excess of eight hours in any day, or later than
four o'clock in the afternoon on any day during the Christ-
mas Shopping season; or
(iii) in an Airport Shop earlier than eight o'clock in the morning
or later than four o'clock in the afternoon on any day;
one and one-half times the hourly equivalent of the normal wages payable to
the person so employed during the week in which lie was so employed;

(b) in respect of employment in any shop on a Public Holiday,
twice the hourly equivalent of the normal wages payable to the
person so employed.
(c) in respect of employment-
(i) in an Airport Shop during a:ny period in excess of eight
hours in any day; or
(ii) in any shop in any circumstances specified in sub-paragraph
(1) of this paragraph other than circumstances in respect
of which overtime rates are specified in (a) and (b) of this
sub-paragraph (2)
twice the hourly equivalent of the normal wages payable to the person, so
employed during the w,,k in which he was so employed.
(3) Where normal wages are nol payable to any person during any
week in which he is so entitled to be pacd overtime wages under
this Order, then, for tile purpose of calculating such overtime
wages:-
(a) The last normal wages payable to him before he became entitled
to such overtime wages; or
(b) if normal wages were never payable to him, or if it is impracti-
cable to use he normal wages prescribed in (a) of this sub-
parapraph (3) as a basis for calculating such overtime wages
the normal wages payable during that week to any person
working in the same category as himself either in the same shop
or in any other shop in the district, village or town ;
shall be deemed to be the normal wages payable to him during that week.

HOLIDAYS WITH PAY
3. (a) Every Shop Assistant shall, in addition to Public Holidays, be
entitled to not less than fourteen working days holidays in every year, with
full pay, after the completion of one year's service. If during the course of
the second ye:r or any subsequent year of employment, the services of a shop
assistant should be terminated, he shall be paid for the proportional part of
the holiday dueo at the time of the termination.
(b) Every Shop Assistant who has completed-six months continuous
service shall, in addition to the above. be entitled to seven days' sick leave
with full p y on production of a medical certificate before the third day of
absence froi work through illness.
Provided that this schedule shall not be construed as entitling any Shop
Assistant to more than seven days sick leave in any one year.
