VACANT POST OF AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL
CADET, ARNOS VALE AIRPORT
MINISTRY FOR COMMUNICATIONS
AND WORKS

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Air Traffic Control Cadet-Arnos Vale
Airport, Ministry for Communications
and Works.
Applicants should possess at least the
G.C.E. O'Level Certificate or its equiva-
lent with passes in English Language
and Mathematics. Preference would be
given to candidates with additional
passes in Physics and Geography.
The appointment will be for a pro-
bationary period of two years in the first
instance. The salary attached to the
post is in the scale V 33-27 $2,400 X
$120-$2,520 X $180-$2,880.
Duties will include technical and other
assistance to the Airport Manager in the
handling of Air Traffic and other allied
subjects.

POST OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND PROBA-
TION OFFICER, MINISTRY OF HEALTH,
HOUSING AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the post of Social
Welfare and Probation Officer in the
Ministry of Health, Housing and Local
Government.
Applicants should possess either a de-
gree in Sociology or a Social Work
Diploma from a recognized University.
The salary Scale is V 19-8 $5,400
X $300-$6,600 X $360-$6,960/000/
$7,320 X 360-$8,400/000/$8,760 X
$480-$9,240 and the salary of the suc-
cesful candidate will be fixed according
to qualification and experience.
The Officer will be responsible for the
efficient running of the Social Welfare
Division and the duties of the post are
as follows:


Public Assistance-To investigate ap-
plications for Public Assistance in any
form e.g. financial or material. Monthly
payment of Poor Relief. To visit P.A.
recipients twice yearly or as the need
arises.
Maintenance-To investigate all re-
reports of persons refusing to maintain
their families. Collect and disburse
monies paid for maintenance. Lodge
cases against persons who do not sup-
port their children. Att end courts
(maintenance).
Probation-Marriage counselling. At-
tend all Juvenile Courts. To assist,
advise and befriend persons brought
before the Courts and to follow up these
cases.
General-To find foster homes for
children whose parents are unable to
look after their children through illness,
neglect or otherwise. Investigate Social
Welfare cases on behalf of other Gov-
ernments.

POST OF HEADMASTER (GRADUATE)
ST. VINCENT GRAMMAR SCHOOL
MINISTRY OF EDUCATION,
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT &
YOUTH AFFAIRS.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for appointment
to the post of Headmaster (Graduate)
Grammar School, St. Vincent, West
Indies.
The School is a Government institu-
tion with an enrollment at present of
553 pupils. The post is pensionable.
The appointment may however be on
contract for a period of three years
if preferred. In this event a gratuity
at the rate of 25% of salary will be
payable on the satisfactory conclusion
of the contract.
The officer will be subject to the
local General Orders for the time being
in force in the State in so far as they
are applicable. The appointment will
be subject to medical fitness and will
be on probation for a period of one
year in the first instance.
The successful candidate will be
reaiired to assume duty in September,
1973.
The salary of the post is at the fixed
rate of $9,720 per annum.
Applicants should possess a degree
of a University within the British
Commonwealth and must have had ex-
perience of teaching in a Secondary
School. A Diploma in Education will
be an advantage.
Quarters are not provided. Free
passages to St. Vincent will be pro-
vided for the person appointed, his
wife, and children not exceeding four.
All Government officers are liable to
taxation imposed by local legislation.

As Chief Executive Officer of the
Fund, the Director will be responsible
to the Board of Direetors for the
general direction, control and super-
vision of all aspects of the Fund's
operations. To this end the Director
will be expected to have proven mana-
gerial experience and, should have a
good working knowledge of modern
accounting principles and practices.
He should be able to manage and moti-
vate a growing staff.
Salary will be at the ratQ of $9,720
per annum. A travelling allowance is
also payable.

The post is presently non-pension-
able but the status of a serving
pensionable officer will be preserved.

PRESS RELEASE

'It is notified for general information
that a contract for the construction of
a new Radio Station and Broadcasting
Studio has been awarded to Mr.
Milton Mayers of Kingstown, St.
Vincent.
The Architect responsible for tih
design is Mr. Geoffrey McLean of
Roseau, Dominica. Work on the con-
struction of the new station and studio
has already commenced and is expected
to be completed by May 1974.
