OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT
OF INDIA 1972/73.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the award of
Scholarships to India under the Com-
monwealth Scholarship and Fellowship
Plan 1972/73. Scholarships are tenable
for a period of one to three years.


2. The plan provides for transporta-
tion to and from India, approved tuition
and other compulsory University fees,
maintenance and book allowances.
3. Applicants should not be more
than 35 years old; preference will be
given to candidates between 22 and 28
years old. Candidates should be Univer-
sity or College Graduates or holders of
equivalent qualification.
4. Awards may be for undergraduate
studies; in fields not available at .the
University of the West Indies. Appli-
cants for Undergraduate awards should
possess G.C.E. 'A' Level in at least 2
subjects.
5. Applications, on Forms Tl, together
with copies of Certificates, should be
submitted to the Chief Personnel Officer
for attention of Training Officer by 13th
March, 1972.

gramme. Awards may be tenable from
September 1972 or from January and
April 1973.
Applicants for degree courses should
possess a minimum of Five (5) G.C.E.
passes, two (2) of them at 'A' Level in
fields relating to the academic special-
isation sought. No. 'A' level E grades
vill be accepted.
3. Applicants for technical courses
should possess a minimum of (4) four
G.C.E. '0' Level subjects including
English Language, Mathematics and/or
Science. For Accountancy courses,
Commerce and/or Principles of Ac-
counts mny be accepted in place of
Mathematics.
4. Successful candidates, who should
be between the ages of 18 and 40, will
be required to sign a Bond with sureties.
5. It is proposed to request awards,
in the first place, for persons who will
return to teach in Junior Secondary
Schools, at the Technical College and at
Technical Centres. Awards will be
sought in the following fields:
i) Industrial Arts (Metal Work &
Machine Shop Practice, Wood-
work & Joinery)
-2 year Diploma Course
ii) Home Economics
-2 year Diploma Course
iii) Agricultural Engineering
-3-5 years: Degree or Diploma
iv) Building Science
-3-5 years: Degree or Diploma
6. Awards will als') be sought for
the two-year Diploma Course in Ac-
countancy, offered at Algonquin College
of Applied Arts and Technology.
7. Applications, stating age, educa-
tion and experience and accompanied by
academic certificates, should be submit-
ted through Permanent Secretaries to
the Chief Personnel Officer, Service
Commissions Department for attention
of Training Officer, not later than Wed-

DEPARTMENT, MINISTRY OF
COMMUNICATIONS, WORKS AND LABOUR.

Applications are invited for the post
of Maintenance Officer in the Eleetrical
Division, Public- Works Department,
Ministry of Communications, Works
and Labour.
Details of Post.
The post requires that the Mainten-
ance Officer undertake the Mainten-
ance of all Government, Electrical
installations. The Officer will also be
responsible for the wiring of all Gov-
ernment Buildings and .Projects.
Salary:
V28-20 $3,240 x $180-$3,600 x
$240-$4,800 x $300-$5,100.
Allowance:
A transport allowance shall be pay-
able in accordance with local regula-
tions.
Qualification:
Five (5) years experience in Electri-
cal Installation and Maintenance work,
coupled with a good working Kiowi ugc
of Institute of Electrical Engineering
Regulations in use at the present time.

POST OF CATERING SUPERVISOR,
KINGSTOWN GENERAL HOSPITAL
MINISTRY FOR EDUCATION AND HEALTH

Applications are invited from suitable
candidates for the post of Catering
Supervisor, Kingstown General Hospi-
tal, Ministry of Education and Health,
in the salary scale-V26-21 $3,600 x
$240-$4,800.
Applicants should have a minimum
of three '0' Levels in G.C.E. two of
which should be English and Mathema-
tics. Preference will be given to candi-
dates with previous experience in large
scale catering or who have undergone
a formal training programme.


The successful applicant will be re-
sponsible to the Hospital Superintendent
for the purchase of food, menu plan-
ning, storage preparation and presenta-
tion of food and supervision of the cater-
ing staff within the hospital, and will
have an advisory role to the Senior Med-
ical Officer on such matters at other
medical institutions.

in food services supervision which

Barbados later in the year.

numbers 30713 to 30750 as they are not
valid and are requested to bring any
of these receipts that might have been
issued to them to the Accountant Gen-
,eral without delay.

INCOME TAX NOTICE

TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Every person, not being an employ-
ed person, is hereby reminded that the
latest date for the submission of Income
'FTax Retfirns for assessment in the year
1972 is the 31st March, 1972, and that
failure to give notice of chargeability
is an offence against the Income Tax
Ordinance rendering the person con-
cerned liable on summary conviction to
a penalty not exceeding ONE THOU-
SAND DOLLARS and in default of
payment to imprisonment with or
without hard labour for a term not
exceeding four months, and after
judgement has been given for that
penalty to a further penalty of fifty
dollars for every day during which
the refusal, failure or neglect to ren-
der any document continues.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income
accruing in, derived from the State or
elsewhere and whether received in the
State or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $600.00
is required to submit a return in the
prescribed form notwithstanding that
on account of approved deductions no
tax may eventually be chargeable, and
-. rl,'iiar.att'ltion is directed to the
fact that the termn:"income" is deemed
to include not only money but also
allowances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons. It is to be
clearly understood, however, that the
Income Tax Department is under no
obligation to send a return form to
anyone and that a person is not exon-
erated from the statutory liability of
making a return even though a form
may not have been received from the
Department. Forms may be obtained,
on application, at the Revenue Offices
at Georgetown, Barrouallie, Bequia
and Union Island, or in any other
district from the Police Station situ-
ate therein or from the Income Tax
Department, Kingstown, where any
person requiring information in con-
nection therewith is invited to enquire.
4. The Fr--m correctly completed
should b" aneompanied by all neces-
sary statements. Specimens of the
form of account required from small
traders and from occupiers or cultiva-
tors of land will be supplied on request.
