RELEASE
Recently there has been much re-
straint on the part of the U.S.A. officials
in Montreal to grant visas to West
Indian visitors to Canada. They have
advised that visitors to Canada who
want to go to the U.S.A. should secure
visas in their own home base before
coming to Canada.
In the circumstances, prospective
visitors to Canada who wish to visit the
U.S.A. are hereby urged to secure visas
before leaving the State.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for appointment
to the post of Engineer, Public Works
Department, Ministry, for Communica-
tions, Works and Labour.
The post is pensionable and' in the
scale V16-6 $6,300 x $300-$6,600 x .
$360-$8,400/$8;760-x $480-$10,200.
1. To maintain organisation and con-
trol of sections of the Public Works
Department.
2. To undertake engineering works
on Buildings and Roads as directed by
the Chief Technical Officer.
3. To work out full maintenance
programmes.
4. To draw up inventories for Roads
in the State.
5. To assist in the Training of Main-
tenance staff.
Applicants should possess a certifi-
cate in Civil Engineering from a recog-
nised University. Preference may be
given to an applicant who has had some
experience in tropical conditions. A
new appointee will be required to serve
on probation for a period of two (2)
years.

1. The contract will be for a periods of one year and. alft trips must be
made in daylight and with a reasonable stay at each port referred to
in the Schedule.
2. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivery of mails and
parcels direct to and from the General Post Office and Post Offices at
Port Elizabeth, Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island in the Southern
Grenadines Service.
3. The successful applicant will be required to give an undertaking that
all persons travelling on Government business and duly certified as.
such will receive priority over other passengers and cargo.
4. The applicant will be requi-d to state the arrangements that would
be made for a replacement of the contract vessel in the event of
a breakdown in the service. Any vessel substituted must have the
approval of the Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour.
5. The contract may be terminated by one month's notice on either side.
6. No tender will be accepted if the Motor Vessel tendered is not licensed
under the Passenger Boats Ordinance 1906 to carry passengers, and
the Master must hold a Certificate of Competency in accordance with
Regulations 18 and 19 of S.R. & 0. 1957, No. 31.
7. Tend rs must state the amount of subsidy required and they should be
addressed to the Secretary, Central Supply Tenders Board, Ministry of
Finance, Kingstown, in sealed envelope distinctly marked "TENDER
FOR CONVEYANCE OF MAILS, PASSENGERS AND CARGO TO
AND FROM THE SOUTHERN GRENADINES" to reach him not
later than 12 noon on Thursday the 19th day of August, 1971.
8. Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
