VACANT POST

POST OF HEADMISTRESS
GIRLS' IIGII SCHOOL
ST. VINCENT

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the post of Head-
mistress, Girls' High School, Ministry
of Education & Health, St. Vincent.
2. Appointment will either be on a
permanent pensionable basis or on con-
tract. In the case of the former the ap-
pointee may be required to serve a pro-
bationary period of up to two (2 years.
In the case of the latter, the appoint-
ment will be for (3) years in the first
instance, with the option of renewal, on
agreement by both parties. In both
cases the appointee will be required to
be passed medically fit.
3. The salary of the ,,ost is $9,720
per annum (fixed). For the contractual
appointment, a gratuity of 25% of sal-
ary is payable on the successful comple-
tion of the contract.
4. Applicants should possess a de-
gree from a recognized University plus
a sound knowledge of the administration
of a secondary school. Post graduate
qualifications, such as Diploma in Edu-


cation, and/or previous experience as.
a Principal of a Secondary School would
be an advantage. In any event the ap-
plicart must have had at least five (5)
years' teaching experience in a second-
ary school.
5. The Headmistress will be respon-
sible for the organisation of classes; the
general control -and supervision of in-
strlction and discipline of the school;
safe and accurate keeping of records,
the care of school building and premises,
school facilities and equipment. She may
also be assigned to undertake such other
related duties as may be assigned to her
from time to time by the Permanent Sec-
retary. Ministry of Education & Health
through the Chief Education Officer.

6. The person appointed will be sub-
ject to the Public Service Commission
Regulations. the Civil Service Orders,
the Financial and Store Rules, to all
Ordinances and Subsidiary Legislation
in force in the State, and to all taxation
imposed by local enactments.

7. Quarters are not provided.

8. Applications, giving full particu-
lars, qualifications and experience, and
accompanied by three (3) Testimonials,
should be addressed to the Chief Person-
nel Officer, Service Commissions Depart-
ment, Kingstown, St. Vincent to reach
him not later than the 2nd March, 1971.

UNESCO TRAINING COURSE

UNESCO is organising a regional
training course on the use of radio and
television in out-of-school education, in-
eluding literacy. The course, under the
United Nations Development Pro-
gramme, will be held in Kingston,Ja-
maica, from 16th April to 14th May,
1971.
2. Particinants will be either pro-
ducers of radio and TV programmes or
teachers of educational activities for
adults and young people. Thirty places
will be reserved.
3. Applications are invited from in-
terested teachers and other qualified per-
sons. Annlications should be submitted
through the Permanent Secretary to the
Chief Porsonnel Officer (Ag.) for atten-
tion of tho Training Officer, by Wednes-
(day February 24th, 1971.

KINGSTOWN BOARD NOTICE

All Ratepayers of Kingstown and its
Extension are notified that the Assess-
ment List was published on Monday,
February 15, 1971, and is exhibited at
the Registry, and the Warden's Office
in Paul's Lot.
Any person who objects to any assess-
ment therein contained may within four-
teen days give notice in writing to the
Magistrate of the Kingstown District of
his intention to appeal against such
assessment.

INCOME TAX NOTICE

TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Every person, not being an employ-
ed person, is hereby reminded that
the latest date for the submission of
Income Tax Returns for assessment
in the year 1971 is the 31st March,
1971, and that failure to give notice
of chargeability is an offence against
the Income Tax Ordinance rendering
the person concerned liable on sum-
mary conviction to a penalty not ex-
ceeding ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
and in default of payment to imprison-
ment with or without hard labour for
a term not exceeding four months, and
after judgement h.ls been given for
that penalty to a further penalty of
fifty dollars for every day during
which the refusal, failure or neglect
to render any document continues.

accruing in, derived from the Colony
or elsewhere and whether received in
the Colony or not for the preceding
year, exceeded the statutory limit of
$600.00 is required to submit a return
in the prescribed form notwithstand-
ing that on account of approved de-
ductions no tax may eventually be
chargeable, and particular attention is
directed to the fact that the term
"income" is deemed to include not
only money but also allowances in
kind.

3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons. it is to be
clearly understood, however, that the
Income Tax Department is under no
obligation to send a return form to
anyone and that a person is not exon-
erated from the statutory liability of
making a return even though a form
may not have been received from the
Department. Forms may be obtained,
on application, at the Revenue Offices
at Georgetown, Barrouallie, Bequia
and Union Island, or in any other
district from the Police Station sit-
uate therein or f-om the Income Tax
Department, Kingstown, where any
person requiring information in con-
nection therewith is invited to enquire.

4. The form correctly completed
should be accompanied by all neces-
sary statements. Specimens of the
form of account required from small
traders and from occupiers or culti-
vators of land will be supplied on
request.

POLICE NOTICES


Notice is hereby given that the Com-
missioner of Police acting in accordance
with the provisions of Section 13 (3) of
Ordinance No. 30 of 1956, has approved
the use of a 1,000 TG Barrel Tank and
a 1,000 BBL. Diesel Tank at Bequia on
behalf of Messrs. Esso Standard Oil
S.A. Limited for the storage of Gasolene
and Diesel Fuel.
The amount stored at any one time
shall not exceed twenty five tons.
