VACANT POST


Applications are invited for the post
of Accounts Clerk in the St. Vincent
Development Corporation. In the ini-
tial months a chartered accountant will
'be assisting in the establishment of the
Corporation and the successful appli-
cant will be expected to assist and un-
der study him.
The Accounts Clerk, if he proves
suitable, would be sent for training in
order to qualify as an accountant. Pre-
ference would therefore be given to per-
sons with at least two G.C.E. 'A' Levels
and Mathematics at '0' Level. Salary


range would be from $150.00-$300.00
per month and the initial salary would
depend on the experience and qualifica-
tions of the applicant.

reach him no later than February 5th

the forenoon and continuing.
All persons concerned, also such per-
sons as are bound over by recognizance
to prosecute, answer charges or give evi-
dence or summoned as Jurors or wit-
nesses, are hereby commanded to give
their personal attention and attend-
ance.

INCOME TAX NOTICE

TO ALL EMPLOYED PERSONS

Every person deriving income from
any employment or by way of pension
is hereby reminded that the latest date
for the submission of Income Tax
Returns for assessment in the year
1971 is the 31st January, 1971, and
that failure to give notice of charge-
ability is an offence aganist the In-
come Tax Ordinance, rendering the
person concerned liable on conviction
to a fine not exceeding ONE TIIOUS-
AND DOLLARS and in default of
payment to imprisonment with or with-
out hard labour for a term not exceed-
ing four months, and after judgement
has been given for that penalty to
a further penalty of fifty dollars for
every day during which the refusal,
failing or neglect to render any docu-
ment continues.

2. EVERY PERSON whose income
accruing in, derived from the Colony or
else where and whether received in the
Colony or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $600.00
is required to submit a return on the
prescribed form notwithstanding that
on account of approved deductions no
tax may eventually be chargeable, and
particular attention is directed to the
fact that the term "income" is deemed
to include not only money but also
allowances in kind.

3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons through their
Employers or Heads of Departments
(in the case of Government Employ-
ees). It is to be clearly understood,


however, that the Income Tax Depart-
mnent is under no obligation to send
a return to anyone and that a person
is not exonerated from the statutory
liability of making a return even
though a form may not have been
received from the Department. Forms
may be obtained, on application at
the Revenue Office at Georgetown,
Barrounallie, Bequia and Union Island,
or in nmy other district from the Police
Station situated therein, or from the
Income Tax Office, Kingstown, where
any person requiring information in
connection therewith is invited to
enquire.

4. Where officers are in receipt of
income other than salaries the form
should include particulars thereof and
should be accompanied by the neces-
sary supporting statements.

PRESS RELEASE

TRAINING

PRINTING
Mr. Ahmin Soleyn, Printing Officer.
leaves St. Vincent on Saturday January
23rd 1971, for Trinidad where he will
be attached for a three-month period to
the Government Printing Office in Port-
of-Spain. Mr. Soleyn's training in Off-
set Printing is financed under the West
Indies Training Scheme; arrangements
for his accommodation have been made
by the Trinidad and Tobago Training
Division.
Meanwhile another Printing Officer,
Mr. C. A. Millar, is booked to travel to
Britain at the beginning of next month,
to pursue a Linotype and Maintenance
Course, followed by a period of attach-
ment.
Both these courses as well as those in
Monotype Machine Operation recently
completed in Jamaica and the United
Kingdom, have been arranged as a re-


sult of the McFarlane Report, to in-
crease the facilities and the number of
trained personnel in the Government
Printing Office. These Printing Officers
are being trained to operate the new
Monotype and Offset Machines expected
early this year.

POLICE
Constable Thorlton C. Walters is due
to return home from Britain on Sunday
January 24th. Under British Technical
Assistance, Mr. Walters attended the
three month course in Fingerprinting
and Photography at the Metropolitan
Police Detective Training School, Peel
House. Chelsea. His Course, which was
formally completed on 24th December,
1970. was followed by two periods of at-
tachment, one to the Fingerprint See-
tion of New Scotland Yard.
