INCOME TAX NOTICE
TO ALL EMPLOYED PERSONS
Every person deriving income from
any employment or by way of pension
is hereby reminded that the latest date
for the submission of Income Tax
Returns for assessment in the year
1971 is the 31st January, 1971, and
that failure to give notice of charge-
ability is an offence aganist the In-
come Tax Ordinance, rendering the
person concerned liable on conviction
to a fine not exceeding ONE THOUS-
AND DOLLARS and in default of
payment to imprisonment with or with-
out hard labour for a term not exceed-
ing four months, and after judgement
has been given for that penalty to
a further penalty of fifty dollars for
every day during which the refusal,
failing or neglect to render any docu-
ment continues.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income
accruing in, derived from the Colony or
else where and whether received in the
Colony or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $600.00
is required to submit a return on the
prescribed form notwithstanding that
on account of approved deductions no
tax may eventually be chargeable, and,
particular attention is directed to the
fact that the term "income" is deemed
to include not only money but also
allowances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons through their
Employers or Heads of Departments
(in the case of Government Employ-
ees). It is to be clearly understood,
however, that the Income Tax Depart-
ment is under no obligation to send
a return to anyone and that a person
is not exonerated from the statutory
liability of making a return even
though a form may not have been
received from the Department. Forms
may be obtained, on application at
the Revenue Office at Georgetown,
Barrouallie, Bequia and Union Island,
or in any other district from the Police
Station situated therein, or from the
Income Tax Office, Kingstown, where
any person requiring information in
connection therewith is invited to
enquire. .
4. Where officers are in receipt of
income other than salaries the form
should include particulars thereof and
should be accompanied by the neces-
sary supporting statements.

Every person, not being an employ-
ed person, is hereby reminded that

In Britain, two Police Officers began
training on January 4th, 1971. in the
31/, months' Special Course in General
Police Duties at the West Yorkshire
Constabulary Training School, Wake-
field. They are Corporals Arthur
Smart and Ralph Rodriguez; who,
left the state on Monday, December
28th 1970 the same day, Detective
Sergeant Selwvn Cumberbatch com-
menced his C.I.D. Course, alo' ;at
Wakefield. These Police Courses are
financed under British Technical As-
sistance.

The end of the week will see the
departure of two more Government
Officers-Miss Erner Keizer of Service
Commissions Department to Jamaica
and Mr. Ormornd Robertson of Customs
to Trinidad. Miss Keizer will attend
the four-month Course in the Princi-
ples and Pro.'tice of Social Work at
the University of the West Indies,
Mona.. Mr. Robertson will participate
in Course "AA" for Customs & Excise
Officers. at the Customs & Excise Train-
ing School, Port-cf-Spann.
Meanwhile 1970 ended with the re-
turn to St. Vincent of Detective Assist-
ant Superintendent Deniston Bobb and
Miss Pervl p'chai!rs. Senior Execu-
tive Officer, Post Office both from
the United Kingdom. Superintendent
Bobb attended the Overseas Command
Course at the Dishforth Wing of the
Bramshill Police College, Hampshire,
as a recipient of a British Techn'-
cal Assistance award. Miss Richards
spent 61/ months on a Universal Postal
Union Fellowship, participating in' a
Course for Assistant Postal Controllers.

AID TO PIONEER INDUSTRIES ORDINANCE, 1952,
NOTICE.
In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the
Aid to Pionee:' Indust:ies Ordinance, 1952, notice is hereby given that sub-
ject to the consideration of any objections which may be received by him
pur'ssuant to this Notice, the Governor proposes under sub-section (1) of section
3 of the said Ordinance to make an Order in the form set out in the Schedule
hereto.
2. Any person who objects to the making of such Order is hereby in-
vited to give notice in writing of his objection and of the grounds on which
he relies in support thereof, to the Secretary to the Cabinet-on or before the
-27th day of Jamnuary 1971.

AID TO PIONEER INDUSTRIES (BREWING OF BEER,
ALE, STOUIT and MALT) ORDER.
1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Aid to Pioneer Industries
'(Brewing of Beer, Ale, Stout and Malt) Order, 1970.
2. Declaration. The establishment, maintenance and operation in Saint
Vincent of a Brewery for the brewing of Beer, Ale, Stout and Malt, is hereby
declared to be a pioneer industry for the purposes of the Aid to Pioneer Indus-
tries Ordinance, 1952, and Beer, Ale, Stout, and Malt so brewed or manu-
factured are hereby declared to be pioneer products for the said purpose.
Made by the Governor under section 3 (1) of the Aid to Pioneer Industries
'Ordinance, 1952 (No. 5 of 1952) this day of 1970.
