VACANT POST OF ASSISTANT FISHERIES
OFFICER.
Applications are invited for the post
of Assistant Fisheries Officer, Depart-
ment of Agriculture, Ministry for Agri-
culture, Trade and Tourism, St. Vincent.
2. Salary of the post is in the scale
$2,400 x $120-$2,880/$3,048 x $144-
$3,624 x $180-$3,984. Travelling and
subsistence allowance are payable at
prescribed local rates provided the offi-
cer maintains a suitable vehicle. Quar-
ters are not provided.
3. Preference will be given to appli-

(a) Passes in '0' Level G.C.E., par-
ticularly in English and a science
subject, and
(b) Experience in Fishing or sea-
faring background.
4. The Assistant Fisheries Officer is
expected to go to sea with fishermen to
study their methods, problems, etc., and
to advise on improvements in fishing
gear, methods of fishing, preservation of
fishing equipment, etc. He is required
to assist with the marketing of fish, pro-
motion and supervision of credit for the
fishing boats and gear, collection of
fisheries statistics, the organisation of
fishermen, and enforcement of Legisla-
tion pertaining to the protection of the
Fishing Industry of the. Island; also to
perform other duties in which he may
be directed from time to time by the
Chief Agricultural Officer.
5. The successful candidate will be
expected to undegro a course of training
in Barbados, commencing on 21st June,
1970.
6. Applications should be in the ap-
plicant's own handwriting and should
state age, educational qualifications, pre-
vious work experience, whether in the
fishing trade or not, and should be ac-
companied by two Testimonials.
7. Applications should be addressed

(2) of Section 3 of the Airport Service
Charge Ordinance, 1968, the Governor
by this Order specifies the Right Rev-
erend GEORGE CUTHBERT MANNING
W\OODROFFE, Bishop' of the Windward
Islands, as being a person by whom the
airport service -charge provided for in
the said Ordinance shall not be payable.
This order shall be deemed to heve been
effective from the 10th day of April,
1970.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
NEW ZEALAND
Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the award of schol-
arships under the Commonwealth
Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, ten-
able from March 1971, at Universities in
New Zealand.
Awards are primarily available, in
any field, for post-graduate study or re-
search but applications will also be con-
sidered from persons without a degree

who wish to take a course of study not
offered by the University of the West
Indies.
Applications for undergraduate study
may therefore be submitted in the fol-
lowing fields:
Architecture (professional), Music &
Fine Arts, Philosophy, Psychology,
Dental Public Health (Dip.) Op-
tometry (Dip.)
Awards, covering travel, living and
study expenses, will normally be for two
academic years, but may be extended as
required. Only in exceptional circum-
stances will applications be considered
from candidates over 35 years of age.
No provision is included for the travel
expenses of any dependants, but a mar-
riage allowance is payable to a married
scholar whose wife is not in paid em-
ployment.
Two nominations may be made by St.
Vincent. Successful applicants are re-
quired to sign an undertaking to return
to St. Vincent at the end of the scholar-
ship.

Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
These awards are for research or port-
graduate studies only, in the following
fields:
Arts, Science, Medicine, Agriculture,
Engineering, Education, Economics,
Administration.
Awards, covering travel, living and
study expenses, will normally be for two
academic years, to graduates under 35
years. A male married scholar may be
ac eompanied by his wife, but no provi-
sion is included for expenses of any
other dependents.
Two nominations may be made by St.
Vincent. Successful applicants are re-
quired to sign an undertaking to return
to St. Vincent at the end of the scholar-
ship.
